Hello All

In Connecticut big snow coming thought I chat about something warm my trip to Disney in June 2017staying at POR in royal rooms river view wanted to know what location I should request how's the food and bus station being every post says transpiration is bad thank !!!

Welcome to the Dis!

POR RR are really beautiful, with over the top theming inside the rooms. The river views are lovely.

RR are in one of two mansion buildings - Parterre Place or Oak Manor. There is a unthemed pool between these two buildings. What you want to request depends upon where you want to be located. You can request either of these two buildings (we like Oak manor), near the footbridge or near the themed pool.

Parterre Place is beautiful but is a bit more distant from everything. It is quiet there, however, and it is close to POFQ if you want to walk over there. If you want to use POFQ bus stop, PP might be an option to consider. However, we never found the buses to be bad at POR, so PP isn't our first choice.

WE really enjoyed the food court and the meal we had in Boatwright's (table service restaurant). Yee Haa Bob's show is a must see while you are there. SO much fun! Also there is a very nice horse and buggy ride OR surrey bike rentals available.

You are able to walk to POFQ to use their pool and amenities as well. It is worth the walk to try the made to order beignets. Yum!

Depending upon the time of year we request "Oak manor, near the foot bridge" OR "Oak Manor near Ole Man Island pool" (themed pool - during warm weather we request this)

Enjoy!

ETA: check out portorleans.org for great information and maps!

It is gorgeous! We had bad luck with the buses compared to our first trip at CSR, but they weren't horrible either. Our room was in PP and I really wish we had requested oak manor. Enjoy!

We stayed in a RR river view room a few years ago, and the location in Oak Manor was fantastic. It was close to the main building with QS, bar, gift shop, very close to the quiet pool (which we used a lot) and a short walk to the main pool, an easy walk to the boat boarding area, and an easy walk to the bus stop near the main building and a slightly longer walk to the one behind Oak Manor. Our view was ok, because we were in an inner room on the first floor and our view was blocked by a stair case. If you request Oak Manor with an upper floor, the views aren't blocked by the stairwell and are much better. Even with the blocked view, we loved the RRs (as over the top as they are) and loved the location.

Thanks so much for your reply I defiantly want to be close to everything and I have a lazy 9 year old. Off topic by have you rode Star Wars ride in Disney

Based on what you have listed, Oak Manor would definitely be my recommendation. Parterre certainly isn't bad by any means! but, Oak is nearer to the main building and bus stop. Enjoy your stay!

How many bus stops?
There are 4 bus stops at the resort. The South Depot is at the main building. North and West are at Alligator Bayou/the far side of Magnolia Bend. East - which will be yours - is right at Oak Manor (which is next to/services PP as well). Or, you can always get off at the main building and walk across the bridge, which is basically between PP and Oak Manor.

Request building 90 - Oak Manor. I have stayed in the royal rooms multiple times and each time, I requested Oak Manor and loved the location. Since you have a river view, you will be close to the walk way, and not far from the foot bridge at all. It is only a 2-3 minute walk to the food court and South Depot. Enjoy!

POR is my favorite resort....also my first resort back when it was Dixie Landings. Stayed in a royal room a few years ago, river view. We were in Parterre Place, and we found it to be fairly close to the main areas! Just crossed the bridge and down the path. Usually used the main depot bus stop...by the gift shop. Yes, it tends to be more crowded but we never had an issue with it. When we stay further back in the resort, we use the stop that is closest to our building! There are four stops by the way. So, yes, it can take a bit of time to get off property and to a park. But, for me, the beauty of the resort more than makes up for the longer bus times. And no, transportation is no better, no worse here than at other resorts.

Thanks guys for all your information I was so concerned being you get all the mixed reviews. How was the food ?

We enjoyed both the food court and Boatwright's.

The food court was a food court (i.e., most items were good to really good, some were ok), but there are a ton of menu items at POR's QS restaurant..it's really impressive and means there's more to find for either picky eaters or those who are tired of sandwiches/burgers/nuggets/pizza. Our meal at Boatwright's was really good as well.

One other note about food: while we were at POR, we took advantage of boat service to DS and ate at Raglan Road one night. The meal was great, and we were impressed with the other offerings around DS. The meal options, both QS and TS, are another advantage for staying at POR or POFQ.

We stay at POFQ but have gone up to POR to have breakfast at the foodcourt (up early and staying at the end near POR) and dinner at Boatwright's . Food was good at both. We like the boat to DS to get dinner if we have no ADRS (no longer all day in the park visitors). As of 2015 the two resorts only share the DS boats until the late afternoon (4:30 -5:00)
As for buses you can read good and bad about any WDW resort.
