We are interesting in purchasing resale and are wondering which resorts have traditional hotel hallways (carpeted etc) vs. Saratoga Springs (where we have stayed) which have covered hallways, kind of exposed to the outside with many different entrances/exits. We are just concerned about the hallway noise factor. Does this make sense?

VWL, BCV, and BWV have traditional hotel type hallways. I'm not sure about HH or VB since I've never been there, but rooms at OKW open directly to the outdoors.

Hilton Head does not have indoor hallways and VB does if you stay in the Inn portion. Don't know about the other rooms at VB as I've always stayed in the Inn.

I haven't stayed at SSR but I know at BWV you sometimes hear noise from people talking or kids running in the hallway. I think you will get that anywhere.

Just my opinion but I would think or should i say my experience is that i usually hear more noise in a hotel style place than a place like ssr where there are seperate hallways. Condo style places usually are alot more quiet b/c you dont have that many people on one floor getting to there room so less people more quiet

I've stayed at all the resorts and here's the breakdown.

BWV, BCV, VWL are all 'hotel' type buildings with inside hallways.

SSR has no inside hallways. The 'hallways' are more like long balconies that extend along the back exterior of the building with entrances to the villas.

VB has inside type hallways for all rooms in the Inn portion. The beach cottages are each individual buildings and have their own private entrances. The 1-B/R, 2-B/R and Studio villas are multiple unit buildings, with 'hallways' similar to SSR in that they are outside the buildings, but more of inside a 'courtyard' area rather than a backside area such as SSR.

HH also has a lodge type building. Units there have both 'outside' hallways, and for a few off the elevator, a kind of 'semi-inside' hallway for very short sections. The other HH buildings are multi villa units, but there are no hallways. Instead there are common steps that lead up to the individual villas, with the entranceways at different locations on the steps.

OKW has only outside entrances, but it kind of a cross between HH and VB where there are steps going up to different 'balcony type' areas with some entrances very close to the steps, and others that you take for short distances down the 'balcony'.

Hope that helps.

OKW and SSR are the only ones that have villas opening to outside hallways. But to tell u the truth, I've usually experienced more hallway noise when staying in the hotel-type DVC's. Often hear kids running up and down the hallways. I think maybe parents feel it's safer to let their kids run because they're indoors ? I don't know the reason for sure, but we rarely have hallway noise at OKW. I have experienced noise from people staying above---but that goes for every disney hotel.

IMO, the noise around any particular villa has more to do with the surrounding guests than the material on the hallway floors. For the most part, it's never been much of an issue at any of the DVC resorts over the many, many trips we've made. :thumbsup2
