My DH plans to run in the 2005 marathon. Which resorts are the most convenient for getting to the start line? I know there are busses from all the resorts, but those seem to run very early in the morning. Also, any tips regarding the marathon would be appreciated. I plan to be in the crowd and cheer for the runners.

Thanks for your help!

All the resorts have buses, even the Epcot resorts. Either you drive or you ride the bus or monorail. And with all the traffic is saw when I rode the bus to Epcot to see my husband start, I think I'd stay on a monorail resort. We stayed at VWL and took buses to the start, but the monorail to the MK.

DH has run three years in a row. The first year he was at the GF, very convenient for both of us. I was able to see him by walking out to the front of the GF , and then took the monorail over to the finish later (after having a nice breakfast).

The past two years we stayed at the BCV. While having the washer and dryer there so I didn't need to touch those running clothes (a BIG EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!), it is very inconvenient.

This year I missed him at the half due to traffic problems. :(

In 2003 he barely made it to the start, the buses were so backed up--he was out waiting for a bus at 3:30am, one finally came at 4:30, and he sat in traffic until almost 5:30.

This year after waiting half an hour for a bus, he drove himself over--it was FREEZING. He got a spot about 20 feet from his corral (A) and sat in the warm car until about 5:30am.

Next year we're staying at the Polynesian.

Deb & Bill and ducklite -- thank you for your replies! I like the suggestion to stay at a monorail resort. Do you know how early the monorail starts running for the marathon?

I think they started running at 3AM. We got on it about 5:30 to the MK from Epcot. We rode the bus over from WL to Epcot about 5:10AM. My husband rode the bus over from WL at 3:30 AM to Epcot.
