My family is coming down to Disney Dec. 2nd through the 12th.,2016. Planning on staying Athere AOA because they have family suites. We stayed there last time and loved the Suite (Finding Nemo), however, did not care for the food court. Can we stay at Art of Animation but go over to ALL STAR MUSIC to eat or do we have to stay at AOA to eat? We also thought of staying at ALL STAY MUSIC and trying to get connecting rooms but heard that they didn't like to give us rooms like that. I wish more of the resorts had suites like AOA. I am not sure but the suites at ALL STAR MUSIC had suites but the chair just lays down into a ;ed and not comfortable. And advice anyone could give me is deeply appreciated.

You can go eat at any resort. We walked over to pop when we stayed at AoA. We thought it was comparable to the all stars. Plus your mugs will work at any of the resorts QS locations not just the one you stay at.

Interesting... most people are all about the AoA food court. Goes to show that truly different people like different things.

You can certainly eat anywhere you choose, though POP would be easier as it is somewhat connected to AoA. The All Stars I think would be difficult.

I almost thought I read the OP wrong. AoA has the best food court on property by a mile. To answer your question, yes, you can eat anywhere no matter where you're staying. You don't even need to be staying on Disney property to come and eat at the Disney hotels. We stay offsite but always head over to AoA to have lunch or dinner during our trip simply because their food court is so fantastic. It's worth going out of our way to eat there.

You can eat at any food court that you want. The suites at ASMu have a sofa that folds out to a bed and a chair that folds out to a bed...so three people can sleep there. I can't attest to how comfortable they are...we put the kids on those and hubby and I had the separate bedroom.

We really enjoy the Port Orleans resorts' food courts! Happy Planning!

While I would agree that AoA has the best food court on property, my sister's kids would disagree. It is definitely not a good food court for picky (very picky) eaters. Pop is right across the bridge from AoA. Pay a little extra for a Nemo room and you'll be halfway there already.

The suites are very different in layout, offering of beds and decor. ASMu is also much older. If you have stayed at AoA in the suites and liked them, I would stick to that. It's only a few minute walk over the bridge to POP's food court and you will find more basic offerings there than AoA. We often just make sure to plan our meals in the parks or DTD and very rarely use the hotel food courts.

It's not that they don't like to give connecting rooms. I'm sure they do. But it's Disney and there are tons of families. And ultimately it's first come first serve, and they just can't be guaranteed. A family with your exact needs might have gotten there (or did online checkin or called a request or booked) 2 minutes before you did.

Eat where you want. I'm another in the "AOA is the best" camp, but eat where you want.

Exactly. If they didn't like to give out connecting rooms, then why have them?

Heh - my husband and I were talking about things we used to think we "true" when we were kids and the one thing I remembered was I thought you had to stay at the hotel where a restaurant was located. I was amazed when my father suggested we go to a restaurant located at a nearby Holiday Inn because we were not staying there.

So yes, you can eat at any resort restaurant or food court you'd like. The issue would be transportation since certain resorts can close their parking to only resort stayers. But, if you are staying at Art of Animation, you have their food court and can easily walk over to Pop Century (not a fan of Pop Century food court). All Star shouldn't be a problem to get there via car or Disney transportation.

We had 3 rooms at AS Sports that were next to each other, with two connected together.

It's a question of availability. There are often more people who ask for connecting rooms than they have available. If its possible, they will try to do it. But it can never be guaranteed. Many families with small children don't want the risk of not getting them.

Have you stayed at an All Star Family Suite before? I have, and to me the fold out was very comfortable.

My young cousin quite liked the pullout chair and my aunt (in her 70s) really liked the pullout couch. Or vice versa, not sure which one they took. I was preparing for the Half the next morning (and was sick) so I'm not sure. But my aunt has always liked a pullout sofa or chair, and ASKS to sleep on them when we have her family stay with us at WDW.

I'm really surprised to hear that. I think AoA is probably one of the best possible choices, especially for picky eaters, because there is such a huge variety from very mundane fare to rather exotic stuff. Just looking at the menu now, the kids menu has pizza, chicken (in several forms), grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pasta and meatballs, turkey sandwich, corn dog nuggets, and more. Plus they have a great grab and go section with various fruit, yogurt, applesauce, hummus, etc. My daughter, even at age 20, is still pretty picky (along with being a vegetarian) and she loves it there because it's one of the few places on property where she actually has multiple choices. At most counter service places, she's limited to one option, if that.

How would we get from Finding Nemo suite at AOA to Pop Century? Thanks so much for your help.

We stayed at Finding Nemo last time we went. Loved the resort. It was very new so they may have a different selection of food non. My problem is I have a daughter who is a very picky eater. All she likes is chicken nuggets,French fries, pizza. Hates any vegetables. That's the problem for us eating at AOA

There is a nice paved path that goes around the lake connecting the two resorts. Nice, calm, easy walk.

There is a bridge that connects the two resorts. You would just leave the Nemo section and head to the other side (not towards the AOA food court). It's a nice short walk. We stayed at Pop in the 50's section and it took us about 7-10 minutes to walk to AOA. We ate at the AOA food court a lot. You can certainly do the reverse. One of my favorite things about staying at Pop/AOA is you get two food courts to enjoy. We also would take advantage of the busses and if an AOA bus appeared before POP we would take that back. The only thing you cannot use is the other resorts pools.

As mentioned, you can walk "around" Hourglass Lake to POP or walk across Hourglass lake via Generation Gap Bridge.:)

Generation Gap Bridge has been around since POP opened in 2003,but there was nothing to walk across it to until 2012 when AoA opened.

Originally POP was going to have a Sister Resort-Pop Century-the Legendary Years-but 9/11 hit,the economy nosedived and when Disney finally decide to complete the project they scrubbed "completing" POP and built AoA instead.

"Generation Gap Bridge" was to "bridge" the "gap" between Pop Century-The Classic years(1950s-1990s) and Pop Century-The Legendary Years(1900s-1940s).

Here is Generation Gap Bridge on "opening day".:)
