Resort ? -- Do they charge to make local/800 calls?

Just wondering if you can make free local or 800 calls from the room or do they charge you? Thanks!!

You know that is one policy I will never understand. Why some hotels charge to use the phone for calling card calls or even local calls.

I know it has been a standard practice in many hotels/resorts but I just don't get it.

I made the mistake of actually using the room phone to make a quick long distance call... I will never complain about the price of park entry again. It is cheap compared to a 10min phone call!
