Do we receive resort discounts on non-DVC reosorts?

No, there is no DVC discount, but there are annual pass and other discounts that may be accessible.

Well, we get a DVC discount on APs, and AP holders get a discount on WDW hotels. So, perhaps by extension, if you splurge for the AP, you'll get a discount on lodging.
Nothing direct tho, except for the 25% off DVC resort rooms (my strategy for many weekend nights).
