Resort Debate

Maybe instead of "Good Neighbor" we could call the "Good Houseguest" hotels. The main difference being that they are located in the heart of Disney World, rather than off to the side (next door). Being in the heart of Disney, they get special privileges that the neighbors don't.
.

Swan/ Dolphin really does have a spectacular location! I have stayed in the DS resorts as well as Bonnet Creek - locations are not as good, but not bad either! I think they're both on property as well! We drove under the "DISNEY " entrance signs to all of them ( if memory serves ). The bus rides are short & you can walk to DS from some of the DS resorts, too.

@bryanb , how much did you pay per night? If you don't mind sharing.... :listen:

Sorry for the late reply! I thought I'd have more time to post while I was on vacation! When I was shopping around, the SPG.com price for my trip was around $217 per night including taxes and resort fees. But this week has been a very slow week at Disney. The price is usually more like $270 including taxes and resort fees.

However, the Chase.com travel portal has been having some unusually cheap deals lately. I ended up paying the rate of $171 per night (including taxes and resort fees). Looks like the Swan's price has gone up for early December, but here's a screen shot of a low rate I found for the Dolphin (around December 7). Add another ~$28 per night for the resort fee. If you don't have a Chase card, perhaps there are other travel agency portals that have access to these rates but I'm not sure.

That's great! Deluxe for around $200 is wonderful! That's usually what I pay for the Hiltons at DS or Bonnet Creek , just under $200. But THIS location is SO MUCH BETTER :-)

I've stayed before, but I don't put them on my signature line because they are not Disney properties. They have great beds and the rooms are nice and comfy as far as hotel rooms go, but what you really have to pay attention for are the added resort fees and, if you drive, the parking fees as well. These fees can really jack up the good rate you thought you were getting.

. I actually DO remember seeing them in the old "VHS" videos - lol! :o Ok... That just made me feel really old!
I actually go through and watch all my old vacation planning videos while working out in the morning! It puts me in a great mood!
