Resort CMs instructed not to honor faxes

Welcome! :wizard:

I have a serious question...when people "request" a specific room #...do CM's fall on the ground laughing??? Does requesting specific room #'s make any difference at all??? I bet if guests knew it was one in a million...scratch that...some would believe they would be THAT one in a million! :teeth:

I know there are some people who have stayed in the same room everytime they have come to WDW year after year.... They rqst it, and from what I understand, the resorts have a record as well... dont quote me on that though! LOL

I wouldnt expect it though... as many others have said in this thread, a request is a request is a request! :)

I think it makes sense to disregard faxes. I have always made my general requests and on arrival I ask what is available. I am usually given a choice of two or three locations. Only once did I get a rude cast member who said "this is the room available". It was awful. Before my bags arrived I asked for and received a transfer. I was surprised how far back the records go. Disney is gradually building a profile of old data. They have us at the Yacht and Beach Club starting in 1992. They don't have much before that however although they said that they may be able to pull it in eventually. It is tied to our home phone number.

There are some types of vacations where you can request a specific room-cruises for example. All cruise lines allow you to pick your cabin from what is available in your paid for category or you can pay a little less and get a guarantee of a specific category or better, but not a specific cabin.

I thought that this was old news? Perhaps they need to send out reminders from time-to-time.

With the net and Disney-specific trip planning sites offering advice like faxing requests-no doubt that the demands became overwhelming.

If it is old news, it's not as old as last weekend. I faxed the Contemporary (didn't call, didn't note when I booked.) When I checked in, the CM said, "And, we were able to grant your request for a ground floor room in the North Wing." So, perhaps it is new news. Or, just a rumor.

When I said 'old news' I meant REALLY old...as in months and months ago-perhaps longer.

I'm certain I'd read about this announcement on all the sites-mousesavers, mouseplanet, deb wills etc. Perhaps they made that announcement and then never enforced it but are NOW going to really crack down? I hope so for their sakes and ours.

Do people really get upgraded sometimes to concierge? That would make me burst into tears at the check in desk :)

I think this is probably true. We stopped faxing our requests a few years ago when the CM at WL told us they did not read faxes anymore. The only requests we ever made were connecting rooms (teenage children) on a higher floor. We usually never got them. After we stopped faxing and made our requests at booking we have gotten not only our requests met but better rooms.
