I love this thread so much, it proves I'm not alone in my resort tweaking

OK, the story so far, in order of tweaks:

And now finally, and it is really finally as I got a good discount, the BWI CL - this is my favourite resort so no worries re. any more tweaks

I think finding a better deal and saving money is a good thing. I don't find it to be a sickness, but rather being a smart shopper!! The more you save on the room, you more you can spend on the food and fun trinkets! Enjoy your trip!!!

Yes, Poohscrew, it is good to find a better deal but most of us don't limit our switching to better deals....we...uh debate and discuss our choices and look on line at other resorts and wonder if we should choose another....We are obsessed and we love it! Our mantra is "except the reservations we cannot change, and change is good!

I had to I too am a habitual resort changer.

I made our reservations in Jan 2009 for 2/28-3/7/10 @ GF something like 397 days til vacation.

I changed my room 3 times. Upgraded each time but still changed. Changed the dates twice. Bought DVC decided to do a split. BLT/GF. Then decided I wanted GF/BLT MK because we would have kitchen and the dining worked better with that spilt but have to move the dates to make it work. Kept GF but just moved to BW/BC and screwed all the stuff up because I can't get a 2 br straight through.

After 330 days our vacation is now GF 2/27-3/3 BWV 2BR Preferred 3/3-3/5 3/5-3/6 2 BR BCV 3/6 - 3/8 1 BR BCV we are wait listed for the 2 BR the last 2 nights but I have done nothing but call MS off and on since Tuesday of last week to get the BW I was sweating the 1 BR with our group. If I can get one of the days for the 1 BR stay I want to waitlist for a boardwalk view ... that is really what I wanted. The only reason I changed from the 1 BR to the 2 BR is because of the space.

13 changes hopefully 2 more to go

SO glad I found this thread... at least I am not alone

Congrats Leane, you may go to the head of the class! WOW, some major resort changing going on at your house! Gotta love Disney for choices. I love the idea of BC and BCV. Location AND a great pool!

Yes, Clair, I give myself workout points when I have a really good tweaking session. We had the opportunity to stay at BWV last year but choose Kidani. I have to try BW. I heard that it is the best location of all Epcot resorts. How do you like the clown pool? How long did you keep your resort ressie vor the Waldorf? Was that just a fleeting thought?

Hi all!

its been awhile...happy tos ee the old gang here and always new 'faces"....LOL

WEll....after my Sept trip...which I did tweak /change alot...lol..survived the triple split stay of BLT/SWan/AKV...lol..loved ending up at Kidani..so relaxing! ANd starting off at BLT was awesome!

Dec trip....big changes...booked POP..then POFQ....then cancelled trip...too much going on and the "cheap" trip for DD3.5 and I was getting costly and I am not suppose to be spending vacation money (Cruise in 5/10 lol)
SO then a friend invites me to stay with her for that weekend....at FQ....ok, I will sneak away...DD had a trip in May..DH says go ahead and have fun with friends for the weekend...
so then I had to book a room for that Fri as my friend didnt get in til Sat....so I booked CSR on AP rate....have wanted to stay there....so then I change to AKL pool view, really wanted to stay there at least one night during Christmas time.

So then "convince" my friend to come in one day early cause I have a surprise (AKL res)...(Are ya still with me, it gets better..lol)
So its SUnday the 13th, and DH is watching some HGTV show abt getting WDW ready for the Holidays...
To which he exclaims..why dont you figure out how much it would be to take DD with!
NOW..with 4 days to go??!!! LOL
(Secretly feeling guilty I was just going, although she has had many trips ;0 )

All night I work everything out, changing/adding flight, luckily get a room at FQ on a great AP rate....but booked POP first...lol..then changed within minutes...LOL

It was a great trip..turned into a 4 night stay...loved POFQ!! DD called it the Princess and the Frog hotel And AKL is amazing at Christmas time...we truly had a resort day there and loved it!!!!

So that is my up to date resort changing story! LOL

Next up.....

DH has a trip to DVC HHI with his 2 buddies...milestone bday trip...(this is how I talked him into buying..lol)
HOWEVER< airfare is like $600 to get there in April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we may be changing....a stay at SSR or OKW...they can still golf and do DTD...manly, right?!

As for me....Sept/Oct trip.....have YC CL booked for first part of trip..I am doing the Wine and Dine run..(walking fast..lol) and not sure of where I will be afterwards with DVC!
I foresee tweaking in my future!!!!

@Disneybride...HI!!!!! Missed being here. Looks like you've been busy cha cha cha changing!!! Whoo Hoo for YC CL. YOU are in charge of the snacks again. I sooooo want an Epcot Resort, but I'm glad my DH said we were going at all. He ask "don't you want to go somewhere else???" Fortunately, I did not have to respond. The DS's chimed in and said "DAD WE HAVE TO GO AGAIN". Was my DH's turn to choose resorts and he LOVED Kidani so I was holding my breath. Of course he put things on a budget and asked the best deal for 4 where the boys would have their own beds (AKL or WL bunks, Poly, YC/BC or 1BR villa at Kidani or BLT.) He choose WL but keeps asking what other resorts have the sofa/chair sleepers....If he chooses BLT I'm going to faint because I will show him the BC prace...(little less) and We could be swimming in SAB by August!

I can not believe I did it again. I made another change... However now I believe I am 100% satisfied. I never knew BWI had those cute little garden cottages...
We are now BCV 2 BR 3 nights/ BWI CL Garden Cottage 3 nights/BLT 2 BR LV 3 nights

My dd is going to be so excited about the cottage! We are going over her bday and this will be her special place

I hope I dont get addicted to it ... I was hoping for 2 BR BWV with BW view for xmas and if we call in love with these it might be hard to not take these instead and stay at BCV again instead for the other part.

Well the only good news.. we are at 49 days 4 hours. The time is ticking so I can't do anymore damage. now to tweek ressies for dining

We'll be heading back to the world in 2011 and I can't decide where to stay. To extend our trip I'm thinking of doing a spilt stay with Pop and either POR/ POFQ or AKL/WL. I'd love to go 8 or 9 nights. I really can't make up my my mind. What's wrong with me?

NOTHING is wrong with you....except you have resortchangeritis Relax and just keep changing until it's time to go....

Actually, I think you can't go wrong with a Pop/AKL or WL split stay. I've stayed at Pop, WL and AKL. Stay at Pop first would be my advice if you are anything like us. We hit the parks hard when we first arrive. Pop is a cool resort! When you feel more like relaxing and taking in the resort scene it would be nice to switch to AKL where you could spend a day just watching the animals or WL where you can take a leisurely boat ride. Have FUN with your options. Embrace the change in you!

Oh we'll definitely do Pop first. We actually stayed there on our first trip and we liked it, but I'd love to try other places too. We've haven't stayed at a mod yet at all. I'm not sure what kind of promos they'll be doing in 2011 so that might impact our decision. Of course if I ask the kids, they tell me they want to stay at the Poly. My son asked if we could stay on the second floor to be close to the food. (We stayed CL last time.) Even if we go back I don't think we would afford to do CL again.

Tarheelgirl we were thinking of POFQ this time because some of our grand gathering party is staying here. They are doing a Princess & Frog themed visit and thought the resort would be great! I like the size of the PO resorts best of all the mods but I like the idea of queen size beds at CS. Full sized beds are the only drawback for us at any resort, that and a long bus ride with many bus stops. One reason I love AKL is that they don't share buses. I like that about Pop also. Never stayed CL. Never could justify it, especially since we always have the dining package. (that's us on the dining plan) SIL stayed Poly last year while we were at Kidani. Loved sitting on her balcony watching the fireworks over the beach...(the had the BEST room EVER!!!)

We are going back and forth about not going to Universal this year (saving it for next year) and upgrading our room. My DS(15) wants to try the contemporary this year and we could do the BLT 1 BR which is like Kidani with the sleeper chair and sofa which works for 2 DS's. I LOVE Kidani's theme better as well as the pool. However, I would LOVE to have monorail access and to try a new resort. HELP!!! I would have to use the 45% code for villas and loose the free dining bounceback and just book dining for the trip. WHAT would YOU do. I need the experts asap!

I like the change alert in red type color.......! Caught my eye..and since I havent been on the Dis much lately...I figured I better get here..STAT!

Oh My..not even sure if I can help on this one...I love KIDANI! I too love the theme better and having access to Jambo...
I did that one night at BLT...and yes...it is wonderful..more of a hotel type feeling...but you cannot beat that MONORAIL and easy access to the MK resorts and restaurants.....and to MK and EPCOT!
BLT is pricey..so your discount is

The BLT rooms are great..esp the master bdr....very spacious...and having the 2nd bathroom and sleeping chair....
I say its worth a shot...your DS isnt going to be 15 much longer..mine is 16 going on 17...ugh...all I can say! I wish my DS showed interest in Disney vacations! lol

I would try something new stepdisney!

As for me....my F & W trip, still dont have my last 2 or 3 days booked yet..lol..just the first 3..I have to save points for summer 2011 trip (DD's 8th grade grad gift trip)
Will wait for any hopeful pin/email/public discounts or AP discounts.

And my friend is going in July....so I booked something...still have to make sure everything on my end works out though....I did have a pin for a room only til mid August...(I almost missed it in my email!) So I booked WL for 3 nights and VWL on pts for one...just me and DD3 (Older kids w/dad in Va Beach) at that time....
SO keeping fingers crossed DH buys into this one! LOL

Hey, he is the one who at the LAST MINUTE told me to take Ava in Dec! 3 days he gave me!

Oh..and POFQ was darling...I really liked it!
But our night at AKL...was magical...upgraded to SV from a pool view...and all teh Christmas activities

Well, the sickness has hit me...I just changed from POR to CR-garden view...best price deluxe for us. We have never stayed deluxe before and so I'm excited and a bit nervous...I haven't yet told anyone else in our family...I'll try to keep it a surprise for DH-- we'll be married 15 years in May--so that''s how I'm justifying this change

Now if I can continue to be convinced it's worth the extra $$...I won't switch back

Whew! Thank you for your quick response Disneybride! I thought I would loose it there for a minute.

See, the "hotel" look of the CR is what I am least enthused about. I don't want to feel like I am in just a hotel. I love a nicely themed resort. After staying at AKL and then Kidani, it may be difficult for me to go to the hard lines and high tech look of CR. I love how the 1br at Kidani and BLT both have the jetted tub and separate shower and how there are 2 baths and the chair/sofa. The amenities are the same until you get to location and transportation. Right now we are booked at WL which has such a wonderful theme PLUS close proximity to MK and monorail if we choose. We but the rooms a quite a bit smaller than we had last year and that is what my DH keeps bringing up.

Ok, so dh decides to tell me he doesn't think he can get the time off for Thanksgiving so I cancel. Then those points were screaming at me and that cash in Disney's hand just didnt make sense anymore.

SO.... here we go again I needed to find a place to stay on points. 27 days away EEK! Oh and we extended it by two days WOO HOO

Now we will be at BCV 4 nights, SSR 5 nights (oh how I wish I could have lucked out and got a THV) and AKV 2 nights. I was think AK would be the most relaxing to end with.
(Weirdest thing... ALL of the 1 and 2 BR villas are booked at every resort except SSR and OKW of course)
now the only change I would do is praying for my waitlist to a 2BR instead of 1 BR at AKV and add a night.

Best thing - after canceling the $3600 room at the Poly I thought I would try and get an Illuminations cruise and it was available!!! 26 days out. There were a bunch of days available.
