Resort Change by Disney

For those of you that got moved to the Poly, does your reservation or room type say Poly Villas? I check-in on July 20th and I'm hoping the cash side of the Poly is open then and if your rooms don't say villa you're going to give me some hope. You all check-in later than me but still, fingers crossed.



I'm 99.9% sure they are going to move people for free not just out-right cancel because the resort you chose isn't open.

We have a reservation at POP for July 5 - 9th (rescheduled from April, and then May). I just called to modify the dates to July 18 - 22nd (since I received an email questionnaire about a week or so ago asking if i was coming/modifying/cancelling those dates and I chose "modifying"). The (truly delightful) cast member told me POP won't be open then and the only option would be a DVC resort which he said would be an increase of $300- $500 per night. I told him I probably couldn't swing that much of an increase. I asked him if he knew when any value resort would be opening up so I could change my dates accordingly but he said he had no idea. He then asked if I wanted to keep my July 5th - 9th at POP, which seemed odd since they're closed. But I agreed to keep it, just to see what comes along; and if something does come along, maybe then I can change the dates to when the parks are actually open? I am confused as usual. Haha!

Anyone in other closed resorts been moved yet? I’ve seen lots of BC. Not much on GDT (me) or GF yet.

I have 3 reservations at GDT (late July, mid August & early September). Haven't heard anything yet. Was thinking maybe because the NBA deal, although almost a certainty, hadn't become "official" yet.

The fact that BC is being moved makes me think that's not the case. I just hope they find a place for us - although I'm confident they will!

So phone CM stated they heard that they are going to try to move people for no charge however this is an ever Changing situation

It may save the CMs a great deal of time if they just change resorts and email the updates. They will just have to deal with the people who do not like their move instead of everyone that will be is moved.

I was going off the message from Sandisw above my questions. It should have said "may" not "will".

You are right...I should have said may be going out as I am not sure thr exact dates that it will apply to.

No word on what resorts are opening, but some of my sources seem to indicate still was only DVC and FW at this time...but, everything with Disney is subject to change.

I really think there will be. Since resort guests with tickets get to make park reservations on the 22nd. Then they don't open up the next park reservations until the 26th for APs. Doesn't that give everyone with a resort reservation those 4 days to do it all? That should be nice. Hopefully we all get what we want. I hope I can ask this here, but I've also been wondering about since there's no Fastpasses, how will it be in the park I wonder? Like how will lines be for things? Do you think it'll be like an after hours event? Or will everything still be a long wait because they'll let quite a few people in because doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

I think we'll at least get a list before Monday. A general statement, if not an email to modify before Monday. This is cutting it really close for some.

Is there any kind of guess for how far out we are thinking modifications will be made? I'm hoping there is a list too! I'm just not understanding if we're thinking changes will be made just for July or August or through the rest of this year?

Changes could definitely be made at least through the NBA function, which is at the very latest October 12. DVC and FW are the only guaranteed to be open at first. Late August BC/YC is being moved to Polynesian, not Poly villas. So its safe to say that at least the Poly appears to be opening in late August. Changes might continue being made on a rolling window, but who knows at this point.

This is what I really don't understand. I would have guessed they would have figured out the resort moves first. Otherwise people could be making reservations for park spots on Monday that they don't end up keeping. I think a lot of people will cancel based on where they're moved/if it costs to move/etc. Seems backward to me -- but what do I know!
