Resort Change by Disney

After trying to catch up on all the posts, this is our situation:
We have a reservation for CSR. The dates are August 16-21. I originally booked it as a Bounce Back with free dining. Well of course that has changed, now our reservation says Recovery20 instead of BBoffer. We have not received an email and we are still at CSR, according to MDE.
My question: Should I be proactive and call to switch resorts (because of the NBA) or wait for Disney to contact us?

Officially cancelled my 6/24 - 7/1 reservation. Thought about rebooking for around Christmas but the restrictions on where you can book makes something that was expensive to begin with, even more ridiculous.

Not expecting much for my late August reservation either. To this point, the whole reopening has soured me on Disney overall.

We have a rebooked Recovery20 stay July 14th to July 25th at POR. I'm desperately trying to follow all the updates, but life is hectic right now. People being moved are for stays prior to park opening? At this point, POR is not going to be open when the parks are? We're 37 days out and all this unknown is giving me anxiety.

My personal opinion is to wait. If you change now, you lose your deal and will have to pay prevailing rate. If they contact you to move you, the change in cost is eaten by Disney.

At this point, there is no projected opening date for non dvc resorts. I do not believe POR will be open.
That said, there's nothing you can do yet except cancel. They are opening it up to move guests in a weekly rolling basis.
What would happen in your case is, if POR isn't open, they'd move you to a DVC resort, but you don't get to choose which one. There would be no change in cost for you. If you change your dates, you will have to pay whatever the difference in cost is from your original booking.

The system is not open for any changes, expect for those with reservations in June to July 4th,

So, you will have to wait.

I won't be cancelling or trying to change the dates, our vacation dates are in now. I was more concerned that it would be cancelled out from under us. We are also a family of 6 (one kid under 3), so this was our last year in a regular room. Having six of us with one bed and a pull out sofa does not fill me with joy :sad1: I'm also worried about the park reservations, but that's a whole other topic.

Just wait. THey aren't doing anything with reservation in August yet.

Posting just to share a friend’s story. She was booked 4 or 5 nights for the first week of July at AoA Little Mermaid with Sun & Fun discount. Yesterday, she called to modify her reservation (I am not sure how limited her resort requests were) and was told there was no availability for all of July. Today, she was able to get July 15-19 at a Poly Studio for approx. $1000 more than her original booking at AoA. She took it, but plans to closely watch what other options might become available. The info she was given about the available Poly amenities sounds more promising than some of the others.

Right now, they are not canceling and moving people through July 4th who keep dates the same to a DVC resort or Ft, Wildernes,

While the rumor is that this will continue for other dates if a resort remains closed, there is still a chance that some may be canceled.

There just may not be able to move everyone...it really will depend on that specific time period and whether any other resorts have begun to open.

I believe by the end of this week, we will have more specifics as to what will happen for the rest of July reservations.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing deal. Getting a 2 BR villa at SS for the price of a CBR room? Aren't the 2 BR villas normally $1000+ per night? I wouldn't cancel if I were you. Plus, you'll have lots of dining options in walking distance at DS.
Yes—we had a preferred CBR room (I think it was $230 a night with our AP discount), and they changed us to the 2 BR villa at no cost—I think the rack rate is $1000 a night around July 4. I was surprised!

They wouldn't be able to put you into a room with just one bed and one pull out sofa, because of occupancy limits. They'd have to put you into a room that slept at least 5, bc the under 3 doesn't count. So, at least there's that!

Have been on hold for 2+ hrs for the special team to see about moving our 7/2-7/7 stay at CBR to a different hotel for same dates. I don’t know if we would do it, but I want to see what they offer...I certainly would love a Poly bungalow for the same price as my CBR preferred room. 😆Even with no parks, maybe resorts at low occupancy with pools and a dole whip would be a nice break 😀
We are booked at CBR too and being moved to a Poly bungalow would be a dream come true 😃

Thank you for the advice. Even though we are over 2 months away, the anxiety is starting to build.
We don't want to cancel. So we are crossing our fingers and waiting.

Has anyone had a resort only reservation??? I have two trips for this summer and we didn't get tickets yet for the August one 😣

Mine is, too. I have the 4 park 4 day/whatever it is called special ticket bought via UT and a 1 day ticket bought from Disney. So. . . . who knows what will happen. They were linked a while ago. I got the ticket email. My stay is in August. Unless I get kicked out for sports.
