Is there an online calculator where you can put in trips in the future at various resorts and it calculates the number of points that would be needed? Or is the only way to plan future trips is to use the points charts? I'm feeling a little lazy but want to start planning a summer 2024 trip.

David's rental site I think it is has it? Might be some other tools out there as well. I know the DVC site itself you could do a mock booking in as well.

I have only been able to "plan a vacation" on the DVC site and it won't let you go beyond 11 months. I'm looking to plan a trip (not book yet) in summer 2024 so beyond 11 months. Am I just missing something on the DVC site?

David's Rental site worked well for me! Thanks!

No, you’re not missing anything. The member website only goes to 11 months because it’s combined with booking, and 11 months is the farthest you can book.

The various apps and websites mentioned here let you calculate as far out as points costs are available, e.g. currently through 2024. I like the app I use because I can calculate and save various permutations of resort, dates and villa size for comparison.

DVCtripplanner.com is a great tool for this.
I hadn't seen this one before, but this is very solid. Have to click "Show All Rooms" to see some room types, which I thought was a little hidden.

The various apps I've found on the iOS App Store are pretty lacking. For example, if I want to search a hypothetical stay 12 months away, AKV Jambo Studio Savanna, then compare it to another, RIV Studio Standard View, this is the experience for all of the ones I could find:
  • D Point - must pay for points chart updates (fine, did that) - 10 taps and 1 swipe to get to AKV SV, 3 more taps to change resort (and maybe a swipe, depends on where it is in the list). This has been my go-to for years despite the not-modern interface, but they're slow to update for points charts and charge for them.
  • DVC Calculator - 8 taps and 7 swipes through pickers to get to AKV SV, 2 more taps and 1 swipe to change resort. Has an optional Nights picker, which is a pretty nice option. Date picker could be modernized.
  • DVC Planner - 13 taps and 4 swipes through pickers to get to AKV SV, 4 more taps and 1 swipe to change resort to RIV SV. I count 2 unintuitive taps, one of which is an annoying 'show me' after inputting the info. The app is good about updating the points charts early though.
  • DVC ToolKit - just 7 taps to get to AKV SV, but the final one is an annoying 'show me'/search where it shows all views as there is no View filter on the input page. 6 more taps to switch to RIV SV. However, the search is in service of being able to see points for multiple resorts/views at the same time, which is fairly novel.
  • DVC Points Calculator - missing 2024 points chart. Date picker is probably the worst of all.

Anyway, DVC ToolKit has probably the best interface (date picker, resort picker, etc.), but I'm not totally bought into the search functionality. Would rather have a view that offers a room/category selector and outputs the points without a 'Search' or 'Show me' button, even if that meant losing searching multiple things at once.
