Resort Buses with incorrect signs

I've been to the world several times, always stayed on site. This trip we have run into this problem a couple of times. Buses at the resorts not showing the correct park destination on their signs.
Once, we were waiting for blizzard beach and luckily a cast member asked the driver of an "Epcot" bus if he was going to BB. And it was!
The next day, 2 BB buses came by within 5 minutes of each other. The 2nd was empty. I thought of asking the driver if he was really a "stealth" Epcot bus, but he moved off before I could.
Then, no Epcot bus for about 20 minutes...followed by a crammed to the roof Epcot bus! Obviously, that 2nd BB bus was displaying the wrong sign.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?

I wouldn't assume that. Buses come at irregular times all over WDW.

1. The first bus you mention was not displaying the wrong sign.
The driver just changed his destination, on-the-spot, after he was "questioned" by the Cast Member. The buses no longer are "assigned" to a certain loop all day.

2. Nope. Just the luck (good or bad) of the timing of bus arrival, and that of other guests who were headed to Epcot at that time.

1) the video display in the bus stop showing the predicted arrival time of the Epcot bus reset after that BB bus left.

And WDW leaves it up to drivers to choose their own destination? That doesn't seem very effective? Do you have any evidence that's how it's done?

Sometimes yes. I have had a empty bus pull up and change its destination for me because no one else was waiting with me.

Robo knows what he's talking about.

The drivers aren't deciding where they're going...dispatch is telling them. We have several transportation CMs here who can probably explain it better.

We were at Disney Springs in April and were told that we just missed the bus to AKL. A bus to Saratoga came up and one of the CMs asked if he could take us after he went to Saratoga. He said no problem.

Coronado Springs, around 10 am
OK, thanks. I can tell you exactly what happened there.

Epcot buses also serve BB for CSR. Starting about 30 minutes before BB opens, the usual route is Epcot-CSR-BB-CSR-Epcot. So a bus coming into CSR from Epcot will have a destination of BB. After going around CSR, the bus goes to BB, and then returns to CSR with a destination of Epcot.

In the first case, the bus may have dispatched too early to include BB on the route. When Guests asked to go to BB, the driver would have contacted dispatch and asked for permission to drop off at BB on the way to Epcot, or an onsite manager may have just told him to do it.

In the 2nd case, the 1st bus was delayed for some reason, most often a temporary shortage of available buses combined with a driver change. It takes about 20 minutes for the bus to go BB and get back to the same stop at CSR, so what you got was the same bus returning from BB and then going to Epcot. The 2nd bus was just doing it's thing, but caught up with the 1st bus because it was so far behind.

There is also the possibility that the 2nd bus was actually going to Epcot, but the marquee failed to change after BB due to a problem with the GPS or computer. It's easy for a driver to get complacent about the computer and not double-check the marquee when entering a resort.
