Resort bus stops at the parks

Does anyone recall which resort pick-ups are closest to the parks' entrances? Curious because we always had to walk to the very end for Port Orleans. I know it's not THAT much further, but ya'd think they could mix it up to give us a break. :upsidedow Anyhow, we're considering Polynesian or Coronado Springs next trip, and if we can't decide, maybe the lazy factor will be the tie-breaker. :lmao:

It changes every few months, and it's not the same at each park.

So the answer is, there's no way to know where your resort's bus stop will be at each park, and that means you just can't reliably choose a resort based on that.

I've never noticed that it changed? Generally the deluxe resorts are closer than the mods or values. When we stayed at POP and POR/FQ we walked way farther that when we stayed at the Grand Floridian

If I remember correctly, at the Magic Kingdom, POP is the very last one but at MGM it's one of the first ones. I di agree with the previous poster, generally it appears the deluxe are closest.

not really. it's legitimately mixed up. if i'm not mistaken, the contemporary is like a death walk from MGM for example.

i can't remember all the stops i've ever seen, but i know from staying at POFQ that MK and MGM were kinda far but i know the others were closer... and i remember it was the first stop at DTD PI

Hi there. It looks like we were at POFQ the same days as you. I loved it there!

I'm hoping cranbiz, wearer of purple pants, sees this thread and chimes in and gives the truth versus perceptions.

The locations DO change every few months. It's just a fact ... they DO!

It's also somewhat of a misperception that the Deluxe resorts are closer, then the mods, and the values are the farthest. While it's posible that could be accurate at one point in time at one park or another, it is NOT set up that way, and it just happens to be that way at a given time due to luck.

Let me just give you 2 brief examples. May 2005, staying at CBR (a moderate):
MK -- as close as close can be, the first stop on the far right.
Epcot -- as far as far can be ... I'm not sure we were still in Florida
MGM -- not the closest, but very close
AK -- not the farthest, but very far

Nov. 2006, staying at POFQ:
MK -- the EXACT same spot as we had for CBR in May 2005
Epcot -- very close, but not the closest
MGM -- as far as far can be (NOTE: the stop next to ours was for GF/Poly/CR!!!)
AK -- pretty far, but not the farthest

These sorts of threads show up every month or two, and even though the facts come out, a sort of urban myth exists that the Deluxe resorts have the closest bus stops, and it's simply not so.

While it may seem that the deluxes get preferential treatment, They really don't.

Right now, MK is in a state of flux because of the rebuilding of the south loop. Load Zone changes will be happening quite frequently for the next several months.

Now, we don't normally change the loadzones regularly, changes do occur. I can't tell you why for sure but I can speculate. The amount of traffic will have an effect on loadzone placement. A resort like POP, that has a very high percentage of resort guests using Disney Transportation, needs an area where you can stack buses at high traffic periods. LZ 18 at MK offers this and we use it frequently. Caribbiean Beach also has a high ridership, therefore it's placement on the south loop is ideal for transport ops. POR and POFQ are at the end of the north loop. Why, you ask, because POR is very busy, again we can stage multiple buses there, FQ not so, but frequently combined with POR during "Magic on Demand" hours.

I can only assume (yes, I know what happens) that the other hubs work the same way but I'm not an expert on them yet.

wow.. talk about points of view... when i first saw the POP bus stop at MK was even beyond unused bus stops, i was just downright disgruntled. but when i showed up at POP on a bad night and saw a 2 hour line that extended almost to the beginning of all the stops on that side, i figured it was done that way because otherwise the guests would have nowhere to go.

but stacking the buses makes a lot more sense.

but it's not really that way everywhere. as mentioned, for example, POP is almost literally right in front of MGM.

but then again, MK sees the extreme bulk of guests.

as far as advantages to deluxes go, all i can say is the only advantage in my experience that deluxe resorts have a much smaller ridership. my theory is the same for why billionaires don't often ride the subways in new york.

the flip side of that though is the Epcot area buses can share with up to 5 (!) resorts.

I dont think deluxe gets perfertianly (sp) treatment. We stayed at CSR in January and I believe it was the first or second pickup at MK.

We have been there five times in the past five years, and always at the ALL Stars, and always just about dead last at every park.

Also, I have noticed that CB is the first bus stop at MK, each of the five years. We have gone in June twice, May, Feb and September.

Actually at MK from Jan of 07 on, the AllStars have been loadzone 12, 13 and 14. CB has been loadzone 16.

Right now, due to the construction, CB is 14 and the All Stars are 15, 16 and 17. This will change again in a couple of weeks as they move from 11, 12 and 13 to 13, 14 and 15 and then again until they finish with 17 (18 has already been done).

Hilarious! Thank you for the chuckle!

Let's also not forget that one can be dropped of at ANY load zone... so even if your resort is the closest stop, you could be dropped off at the furthest.

Here is what I noticed about the bus sections when going to the Contemporary, when leaving MGM or AK. In the mornings at MGM the bus drops guests off at the closest point to the front entrance. When going to the Contemporary's section sometimes they can be close by, other times they were a bit farther away. So at MGM there goes the theory of Deluxe Resorts always being at the front. At the AK the bus always drops guests off where the Resort stop is located and section for the Contemporay has always been in the same spot which was right towards the front. So there you can say the Deluxe Resorts get the better spots, however the bus sections at AK are a lot closer together and there is less walking to get to your section then at MGM.
