Hi guys,
Traveling to Disney for the first time with our DD later this year. I've been trying to do a ton of research, and I think that we're going to forego the dining plan because a) dd is a very picky, light eater and we'll bring our own snacks for her (and she just nibbles off our plates), and b) DH and I tend not to eat big meals or a lot of meat.

I AM interested in a couple of the character meals- the Ohaba breakfast and Tusker House breakfast. My question is- do we need to buy a buffet for all three of us? Can dd and I order off an a la carte menu, and one of us order the buffet? (DD will likely nibble at a waffle and piece of toast, definitely not worth full buffet price). We'd like to go for the ambiance, and DH and I may end up both doing buffet, but definitely don't need it for DD. Thank you!

How old is your DD?

I believe if the child is 3 they will charge the buffet price if that's all that is offered.

Chef Mickey's and Tusker House are buffet only. No a la carte menu. Children under three will not be charged and can eat off an adults plate. Children 3-9 will be charged the child's price. Guests 10 and over will be charged the adult price. It doesn't matter how much you eat, each guest will be charged. All character meals at WDW are fixed price and follow these rules. If you don't feel the price is worth it, I would stick to meet and greets.

Yep, if your daughter is 3 plus, you'll have to purchase a child's buffet for her, regardless of whether she eats or not. If she's under 3, she eats off your plate or what you bring at no charge.

you are paying for the cast members who are the characters as much the food.
