Resort booking wait list help

Hello,

I am looking for some help with understanding DVC booking wait lists. My family is not new to DVC but I am personally new to the booking of things. My Mom used to do all the bookings for our family and since she died in 2020 I have now taken on trying to understand all the nuances of DVC points.

So I am looking at booking at Deluxe Studio (standard view) at the Grand Floridian from Sept 3rd-10th of this year. When I looked earlier today it looked like the 5th-10th was available but the first 2 nights were not. So I went ahead and selected all the nights I wanted and proceeded to put myself on a wait list. Now should I have instead tried to book the available nights I could get and put only the 2 nights I couldn't get on a wait list? I had previously tried to get clarification from DVC when talking to them on the phone but I don't think they understood what I was describing.

Any help would be so wonderful.

Yes, you'll want to the grab the nights that are available now and then just waitlist the ones you need... more likely that 1 or 2 nights will match vs the whole trip. You can only have 2 waitlists at a time... if you only need 2 nights then I would set each night up as a waitlist because again, likely 1 night will come up vs the 2 nights at the same time.

If the nights match, then member services can merge all the reservations into 1. Also check the website regularly... I've had better luck grabbing nights by checking vs the waitlist filling.
