I have read where some of you do not use the resort blankets and spreads. So what do you use? If you bring them from home what do you do with them in the morning before mousekeepers come?
I sooo hate the thought of my small children laying on the bed with blankets that the last sweety? sick? dirty? who know what person used without them being washed.:(
We will be driving, so we could bring ours from home. Just not sure how the AKL will feel about that.
Any thoughts:confused:

If you take your own blanket, etc. be sure to put it on a chair or something so if housekeeping puts new linen on, your blanket will not be accidently end up at the laundry. The mousekeeper will more than likely either place the blanket back on the bed at the end of the bed folded up. Please do not forget if you bring your own pillow, blanket, etc. to take them with you when you are leaving for home.

We always sleep better with our own pillows. I pack them in a plastic 30-gal trash bag and if we are pressed for space, I use the vacuum cleaner to suck the air out of the bag, then twist-tie it so it takes up less space.

I believe it is within our rights to call down to housekeeping upon arrival and say "We have allergies. Would you mind bringing a fresh bedspread." This is more diplomatic than saying "I know you never wash these and I am grossed out!" Also, if the spreads "look" OK, Lysol makes a new variety that you can spray on fabrics. I am packing mine! I have read too much here!

 Whoa!!! It's hard to believe they don't wash or otherwise
sanatize the blankets or spreads in between visitors. What I
mean to say is that on our last visit we noticed that even the
small details...things you might not think about....were taken
care of. For instance. someone was out early cleaning the streets,
or cleaning pool chairs and decks. I just don't get it.
Is part of the magic missing?

Mcbreb, It's evidently a normal thing in hotels... They clean the sheets all the time, sometimes the blankets but only occasionally the bedspreads. I live in Indiana and some years back an Indianapolis channel "scooped" this big story -- there was even a 20/20 type show later. As I have posted before, they had guys with special lights that showed all kinds of gross stains from previous occupants of the room. My daughter was just a toddler when this was revealed and I started puilling the bedspreads off beds the minute we would enter a hotel room.

If you are somone prone to illness, or traveling with someone like that, get the Lysol, or pull off that bedspread, or call housekeeping and ask for new ones. Who wants to take a chance on being ill on the much-awaited vacation?

"or call housekeeping and ask for new ones"

i am getting a little grossed out thinking about the bedspreads and blankets, has anyone ever called housekeeping for fresh ones? i may just do that...

I'm from Indiana too. (Small town between Anderson & Muncie) I saw the same news report. All of those fancy Hotels and all of that gross stuff on the floors and beds. I just can't stand the thought of my little ones on those beds. I will be bringing my own bedding this trip.:D

After hearing and reading about these different instances whenever we travel to hotels including Disney I bring a packet of Clorox wipes and wipe down almost everything including the bedspread (even after housekeeping comes). Especially the telephone, that's the first thing my dd goes for when we get there. Then it's doorknobs, the tv remote, drawer handles, knobs on the sink, etc. Call me a little phanatic but I think a lot of these germs that linger are what causes some of those unexplained illnesses at Disney.

(I'm also one who uses the alcohol sanitizers on our hands all of the time when were outside the hotel rooms.)

Don't know how much the clorox wipes help with bedspread but I'm a little paranoid traveling with a can of Lysol because we tend to pack up the car on the last day and keep everything in it and I get paranoid how hot it can get in the car that the can could burst sitting in the heat.

I've started making it a habit by pulling the bedspreads off and putting them on the closet floor for the duration of the stay. It kinda takes away from the room decor but I find them sometimes difficult to sleep with anyway.

Those are some great tips. I'm adding the clorox wipes and can of Lysol to my list.
Thanks

Thanks for the tips.... I have a question though.. does anyone actually take off all the sheets and blankets too? or just the top bedspread/comforter?
