Resort availability & crowd 1st week in January '06?

We are thinking of arriving on New Year's Eve and staying through Friday of the next week. I know New Year's Eve is going to be extremely busy, but wondered about our chances of getting a room New Year's day and the week after. We prefer the Boardwalk, but will take whatever. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Half Marathon and Family Races on 7th, Marathon and Celebration on 8th and Expo open 5th and 6th. We are out of school until the 9th so we are heading down the 2nd through the 8th.

There is a college teaching conference scheduled at the Boardwalk for Jan 2-6th. That might limit availability there. We were considering going but have decided not since we will have just been there the first of Dec. I'm not sure how big of a room block they have for that event but seems like there is a lot going on that first week in Jan.

There have been posts before and it sounds like a lot of schools don't start again until the 9th. I know a couple people heading down for New Years eve and staying a week.

My husband and I are going so a quick 3 day getaway Jan 12th - 15th. Would might we expect as far as weather/crowds etc?

You're on the MLK holiday weekend. MLK holiday is Monday, Jan 16.
