I was just curious if anyone has been to this concierge collection resort and what their impressions were. We are planning a getaway in October and would like a relaxing place, but I would like to do have a little casino action as well. If anyone knows anything about this resort and the activities, resturaunts, etc. Please reply.
Thanks

This resort is located near the village at Squaw Valley. You could probably go online and see what types of shops, restaurants, etc are located in the village. It is not near the casinos. Most of the casinos are located on the South Shore of Tahoe and this is considered the North Shore area. There are a couple small casinos on the north shore, one in Incline and one other a bit closer, but they would still be about a 30 min drive from Squaw. The resort is located at the base of the squaw valley ski area and has it's own lift and runs near it. It's a great location for ski season. There is also a golf course there in the valley floor, that may still be open in October. ANd there are some riding stables nearby. Lake Tahoe is beautiful but you don't have a lake view from this resort. It is a very nice resort, I personally have never stayed there, but I do have friends who have during ski season, and they like it. At that time of year, it would be very quiet, and probably not alot to do and not much nightlife. It's only about 5 minutes or so to Tahoe City though which can be nice to walk around and they do have some nice shops and restaurants located right on the lake. Hope that helps.

I was just was at Squaw Valley yesterday and I can say it's a very beautiful place. Squaw Creek is the base of the mountains at the ski resort and only around 15 minutes to Lake Tahoe. Squaw Creek has a great pool, a nice spa, shops and a shuttle that takes you into Squaw Village, which is lovely. It's a great place for biking and hiking. October starts getting a little chilly, but it's a terrific time to go as there are no crowds.

For casinos, you're looking at probably 1 hour plus to Reno. If you're flying in from out of town, you'll probably fly into this airport and you might check out staying in town for a night or two for gambling (should be able to get some very good deals in October in Reno, especially mid week -- Silver Legacy and El Dorado are probably nicest places to stay).

I definitely recommend Squaw Creek. The Lake Tahoe area is just beautiful with lots of opportunities for outdoor activities and relaxation.
