For those who have used the Resort Airline Check in for flights to Portland, ME, have you had any problems receiving all your luggage?

The reason I ask is that I have flown from Portland, ME to MCO before and have never used the RAC service from the Disney resorts because I'm afraid that one, some or all of our luggage will not make it to Portland when we arrive. And since we have to drive home the next day, I am wondering what would be the procedure if the luggage is delayed and will not be there until we are already home in Canada.

I hope this question makes sense. I would like the convenience of checking in at the resort and not worry about taking the luggage to the airport. But, again, I'm a little nervous about it because the destination airport is not close to home.

Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:)

We always do RAC and have never had a problem. We fly to Seattle and whether it's a direct flight or we change planes our luggage has always been there. We have flown on 3 different airlines and this has been the case. We consider this to be one of the magical things about staying at Disney.

Thanks for the response. I would love the convenience, but I guess I'm just nervous about the extra step my luggage takes. If we take it to the airport ourselves, I know that there is still a chance for it to be lost in transit to our destination. However, if I check it in the resort, there is another chance for it to be lost in transit.

My MAIN concern is that if the luggage is delayed at the resort or whatever, and it didn't make our flight for some reason, how do we get it back if our residence is far away, literally in a different country? Will the airline ship it to our home or only as far as the destination airport?

If anyone has had this problem before, I would really appreciate any info. :)

I had the same reservations as you...and we decided against it.

Not worth the worry for me on a busy travel day:)

Are you using ME for your return ride to the airport??

:)

We used it last year flying from Portland & we had no troubles at all. Our luggage actually left for the airport before us. We had a lay over in NY as well. Once we arrived in Portland , our luggage was there & away we went ... no troubles coming or going. I would certainly do this again

Just look at how far in advance you have to put your luggage into RAC and you will see that there is more than ample time to get it to the airport ....

I do it everytime we go and that is twice a year. Some non-stops and some lay overs. Everything has made it to Maine with no issues. Just get your luggage donw to them in time.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. :)

I did post the question at the Transportation board and they have mentioned that if there is a problem (and most of the post show that I should not worry about it too much) then the company handling RAC will be handling the issue.

I was just so nervous about it. But I think we will try it and make sure we check in far in advance. With the schedule, we should be able to check in about 5-6 hours in advance. I hope that's plenty of time.

Again, thank you for posting it. I guess I just needed to know that people have gone through the same scenerio with little to no problems. :thumbsup2
