Resort airline check-in / luggage

I've stayed on-site at WDW 6 times but I've always tried to be a light packer and therefore have never checked luggage in my life (always carry-on). This time, we've decided to finally pack a big suitcase and use DME. Can anyone tell me the process of checking your luggage at the resort when you're leaving? I am flying American Airlines and there is a $25 bag fee. What I have read is somewhat vague - basically saying I have to call a number which will be on my DME paperwork and pre-pay the fee over the phone before I take my luggage to check it in at the resort. Is this accurate? Thanks!!!

The day before your departure you will receive a Magical Express transportation notice hung on your door. This letter gives you instructions for ME pick up and resort airline check in. In the letter you will find the number to call to pay for checked luggage. The letter also will tell you what time the ME will be there to pick you up. You will need to show the letter to the ME bus driver in order to board.

You should also receive your boarding passes hung on your door the morning of departure (unless you have a super early flight).

Thanks. Yes, I take Magical Express every trip. I just wasn't sure about checking luggage when leaving the resort.
