I'm not sure where to post this but figure this is the closest match.

We were a group of six people.

We used the resort check-in to get our boarding passes and check our luggage in @ BCV.

There were six of us.

Five of us had the same itenerary/flights. Going from MCO to Den then on to SMF (Sacramento).

One of us went from MCO to Den (same flight as others) then went from Den to SAN (San Diego)

We presented them with the printed out itenerary from United airlines for reservations.

The person going to San Diego had no issues and all went well.

There were five pieces of luggage that was to end up in SMF (Sacramento)

Well two of those five pieces of luggage ended up in San Diego.

When we got to Sacramento and discovered two pieces missing we went to the baggage customer services desk to inquire. When we gave the the luggage tags that the BCV airline check in gave us to the agent he said that these two pieces of luggage was tagged to go to San Diego and not Sacramento. :scared1: He said that he would get our luggage re-delivered to the Sacramento airport but it wouldn't be until late afternoon the next day. Well.... we live over 2 hours away from the airport so United is going to have the luggage delivered to the house. for a fee because they said it was not their responsibility that the luggage was mis-tagged.

So..... my question is - who do the agents at the resport airline check-in desks work for - - who do we contact to file a claim?

There shouldn't have been a problem since the agents were given a printed itenerary with flight numbers etc from the United website - it also included our reservations numbers, etc.

Thanks for the help

While I think the company is BAGS, Inc., I also don't think they'll reimburse you for anything.

Ultimately, mistagged luggage can happen anywhere. It is ultimately the consumer's responsibilty, or at least very good sense, to watch one's luggage being tagged and make sure the correct airport code is used - yes, even AT the airport and even when done by persons with many, many, many years' experience.

I agree with the PP. Whenever we've checked luggage, I won't walk away until I actually SEE them tag it for the proper airport.

Weren't you given receipts for the luggage for pickup at the end of travel? Usually, those indicate the destination airport and would have been a heads-up that they were tagged incorrectly.

It is BAGS that is in charge (though I don't know their phone number).

Having the itineraries wouldn't have helped them though. How were they to know which bags belonged with which person/itinerary? If all 6 people checked in together, I can easily see why a mistake was made.

RAC was able to issue the correct BPs. Sounds like 6 passengers with 6 pieces of luggage (one per). I agree with pp, the OP should share the blame for not double checking but the bags should have been "matched" to the passenger/destination.

Disney sponsors DME/RAC. Put the claim in with Disney and let Disney decide if who pays.

There is another issue, one guest went to SAN but three bags went to SAN. There should have been a $125 charge for a third checked bag.

Just to clarify - we checked the bag going to San Diego with a printed out itenerary - just one bag.

After that was completed - we proceeded to give them the other itenerary and then gave her the remaining bags. While the one woman was printing out the boarding passes and luggage tags - another man was taking one bag at a time-weighing it and placing the printed out luggage tag on the bags.

As a matter of fact - because the luggage tags that she gave back to us were cut off on the right side we did verify where they were going - we could read the mco, den, but could only read the "S" on the final destination.

How she could print out 2 tags to San Diego and the remaining to Sacramento in a total separate transaction still confuses me. We weren't in a rush and the only ones there so there was no pressure to get it done.

I've traveled all over europe and always check these tags plus we always have a separate "itenerary" luggage tag that lists our complete travel plans for the entire time we are gone - secured to the outside of our bags.

There are several airlines including United that when the bags are checked at the hotel baggage fee is waived.

It doesn't matter what vendor Disney uses to facilitate the service. The service is provided by Disney as a service to the guests. Sure they use an outside vendor but that isn't relevant to you. Call Disney with the issue. If Disney wants to get reimbursement from the vendor that is their problem.

In the industry I work in we use vendors to faclilitate monthly billings to customers. Do you think of a customer doesn't get their bill in the mail that they are going to call our venfor? No, they are going to call us and let us deal with the vendor.

If it were me, I would contact both Disney & Bags. The phone number for Bags is 407-284-1231.

Good luck!

Since we belong to DVC I plan on contacting member services and see what they say and go from there

Did the tags on the misdirected luggage have the correct names on them? If Jane Doe is going to San Diego and John Smith is going to Sacramento, they should not be able to tag a bag for John Smith to San Diego since they are pulled from the reservation record.

Yes they did - everyone received the correct boarding passes as well.
