I need to resign from the Mission committee at my church, of which I am the chair person. I will continue my term until the end of this year but will not continue into next year. This committee does many many good things in the church and the community.
My work schedule and responsibilities are increasingly demanding and my childrens activities are also multiplying. (We have a 16 year old DD and a 4 year old DD)
At work, we have just created a non-profit related to furthering Civil Rights and my Director asked me to be on that Board of Directors and I agreed. As part of this non-profit, we will create a Youth Civil Rights Commission, for which I am responsible. That program will start up this school year.
I am also committed to another non-profit which helps homeless families and am the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for this organization.
I have had to take a look at my life and my schedule and make some hard decisions. I think it is in the best interest of my sanity and of my family that I step down.
Now the hard part is telling the committee and Pastors.
Any suggestions? This is tough for me. I am one of those awful "people pleasers" and hate to upset anyone. I just know this is better for my family.
Thoughts???

Tough to do in a church because once you get on the "list" of people who will help, it's hard to get off the list. IMHO it's best for everyone to be up-front with your new schedule and that you won't be available anymore.
