Thinking perhaps someone knows the answer to this?
My friend is a U.S Citizen and has a Canadian residents card. Does anyone know if the requirement to have 6 months remaining before expiration , as with Passports, is required?:confused3

No. When the 6-month thing is imposed, it's because the country you're entering (as a foreigner) wants to be sure your passport won't expire while you're still in their country.

The PR card is used when you re-enter Canada. Your friend won't have to show it when leaving... only on re-entering Canada. They won't care if it's good for six months into the future then.
 
What Northstar said has been my experience as well. I have a PR card and US passport. I've never had to show it when going to the US, heck they barely ask to see it in Canada ;)
