Has anyone stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Lake Buena Vista? The hotel is only about 1-1/2 years old. We stopped there yesterday to look around and it is very nice. They let us see a 1-bedroom unit and although its on the small side, it is similar to other Residence Inns I have seen.

We belong to the Marriott Rewards program and by next year will have enough points to cover probably most or all of the week there. Just wondering if its as nice as it looks.

Thanks,
Steve

We're currently at the Days Suites which is much older, much bigger and much cheaper.

We stayed there this past February in a 2 bedroom. We really liked it there. We had plenty of room but the again there were only 3 of us. I poked my head into a one bedroom and it seemed about the same size as a 1 bedroom at the Homewood Suites which is where we had stayed previously. The kitchen was spacious, but lacked utensils for 8 even though the room could accomodate 8. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the pool area nice. It is very convenient to the parks and there are plenty of restaurants on Palm Pkwy to choose from. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and we thought it had enough variety for a week.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave. There are only 3 of us also, so a 1-bedroom should be plenty.

I second everthing BigDave said. It is a great value and a quiet location.

You might also consider the RI at Seaworld less than 5 minutes away from the LBV location. That hotel just hopened this spring.

Glad to hear your positive comments on RI,LBV. We have resies there Feb 14-21,2003.

Could someone tell me where it is in relationship to Downtown Disney. I can't quite picture this location.

Also, do you have any specific restaurant suggestions?

This will be our first "off site" stay in a very long time so I am a bit afraid of losing the magic of disney....

thanks, Cindy

If you go up Hotel Blvd you come to the light at Crossroads. Turn left, then right at the light on Palm Parkway. You'll pass a bunch of hotels on either side, then get to an undeveloped area and the RI is a little further down on your right.

We got back last nite from a week at the Days Suites. Don't worry about missing the "magic" by staying offsite. I think the magic is what you make of it. We spent almost every waking moment on Disney property. Sleeping offsite really didn't detract from anything and saved us hundreds and hundreds of dollars and gave us a lot more space and a full kitchen.

As for restaurants, depends of course on budget and taste, but we had a wonderful meal and a fun time at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Get there early (before dark) so you get to watch the animals. And we love Beaches and Cream at the Yacht Club. 1900 Park Faire at Grand Floridian is also a wonderful buffet.

As for offsite restaurants, we've never really done much beyond the chains (Denny's, etc.). But if you get over to Celebration, Cafe D'Antonio is wonderful also.

Have a fun time.
