Reserved seating for parades/fireworks?

According to the vouchers sent to me from the Disney Travel Co., the reserved areas are: Epcot-Morocco boat landing, MK-Plaza Landing near the Plaza restaurant, and AK-Harambe bridge next to the Discovery River at the Africa entrance.

Has anyone ever used these? If so are they worth making the reservation ? Also for the MK it is still listing FITS and not Wishes, so is the viewing of Wishes still ok from the reserved area?

Also, I've not heard much about these areas-are they usually crowded? Would we be better off just staking out our own spots?

BTW, those areas they are talking about are perfect viewing for all the parades/fireworks you are referring to, so I would definitely go for it.

We booked the Winter Dream Maker Package with the Silver plan, I'm not sure if it's the package or the add on that gets the reserved seating vouchers. I just received our vacation package details (we paid it in full a week late-but that's another post ) and it included vouchers for each member of our party for the reserved seating.

Oh I should add that there are black out dates-Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas, New Year's etc.

Are you booking directly through Disney Travel Co.? I just ask because last year my sister and I went through AAA and they offered preferred seating also for the fireworks and Mickeys Jammin Parade. We never got around to using it, so we had been curious as to where the seating would be. From what LoriZH says the viewing sounds great. So if it is the same offer I think we may try it ourselves this next summer!

Yes, we did book directly with Disney. I'm thinking that it's one of the perks that comes with the package and I know that there are not many fans of packages here on the Dis, so maybe that's why I've not heard much about it.

I think I'm going to go ahead and reserve the seating, it seems like good seating to me. I did question the Morocco boat landing for Illuminations because when I looked at the guide map it looks like there are 2 islands of trees directly in front of it. Does anyone know if they would block the view? I've never seen Illuminations and it's a must do on this trip!

First let me say that it is not seating - it is just standing room. The only one that we did use was the Illuminations one at EPCOT. If you do use this one just a few pointers. They let you onto the ramp but not actually all the way to the dock where you would have boarded the boat. When you enter the boat ramp go down to the bottom and stand at the left end of the ramp. If you move to the right towards the rope the awning covering the dock will block some view. I also wasn't able to see the screen until I moved towards the left because the trees do block the view.

We chose to do the reserved area for the AK parade on the Harambe bridge. It was a hot sunny spot, but afforded great views for photo taking and character interaction with the kids (it was only us and one other family). It was a nice perk without cost to anyone. Make sure you take your "invitation" to show the CM "guarding" the area wherever you choose to go.
