Just show up with 5 and you'll be fine. It quite frequently happens that parties have one more or one less.

I have same problem went from 5 to 7. Not as easy. Tried calling but only able to change a few reservations. CM told me to show up they may be able to seat us but not to expect it. She said changing from 2 to 3 or 4 is not too big of a deal. She said changing from 4, to 5 or 6 can be because it is a different size table. Changing from 5 to 6 is not a big deal but 6 to 7 or 8 is more difficult, because it involves more tables. If you catch my drift here. We changed a few, and we are going to take our chances with the others.

Thx for the info. I think we will just wing it and hope for the best if I can't get any other ADR.

I would keep trying online every day to book an ADR for 5 because you'll need a larger size table. It helps to be flexible so try for a different time or day. You can even try for 6 people because it will be the same size table. Le Cellier is extremely popular so they could easily turn you away or honor your reservation for just 4 people.

If you can't get a table for 5 have a back up plan. One good option - you'll be there during the Food & Wine soft opening so you could check out the food booths that will be open.

Good luck.

I ate at LeCellier this past week for dinner. While dining the manager, person watching the table turnover, and another mgmt type person were standing by our table the entire meal. I could hear their conversations. The hostess came to them saying a party of 4 checking in now had 5. The manager said they were booked solid and could not accommodate them to tell them either take the 4top or sorry. They were turned away. Just wanted to warn you what I witnessed. Would hate for your dinner plans that night to be ruined.

I don't agree with this. The OP will now need a larger table, and getting one at Le Ceiller, which is usually booked solid, would be a miracle.

OP--Keep trying to change your ADR. And if that doesn't work, show up right when the restaurant opens for service and ask to be seated then. I did that over Spring Break, and was told as long as I could eat then and there they could seat me and my nephew. So that is what we did.

I would not just show up with an extra guest at your scheduled ADR time. Le Ceiller is one of the hardest restaurants to get an ADR at, and odds are they won't have any openings for a larger party. Get there early, and keep your fingers and toes crossed. Good Luck!

We must have created a miracle then. We went to LeCellier with one less, which seated us at a smaller table, and were seated at a smaller table without any issue.

True we were going down, but we were seated at a table type that we didn't reserve for without any issues at all.

I am not suggesting that the OP doesn't try to get a different reservation, nor that they shouldn't have a plan B, but I still say that they shouldn't give up on LeCellier without trying. They may get lucky.

Perhaps you showed up at the same time another party showed up with one extra so they were able to switch table assignments. Or maybe just a bit of pixie dust.

Nevertheless, I would never just leave it to chance. I would do everything I can to get a reservation that includes everyone in the party.
