I need some clarification. If I have HH and BC points, can I use a combination of points from both contracts to make a day reservation. In other words, if I only have 3 BC points left, can I use those 3, and add the remaining needed from HH points to rent the studio for that day, or do I have to bank the points and use them the next year? (7 months window is not an issue).

You can combine them if you are past the 7 month mark. I'm not positive if there is an additional step needed if they are different Use Years but even then I think MS can work it out.

Unless the points are considered to be under one contract you must actually transfer the points from one contract to the other to combine them. DVC has combined contracts of different Resorts with like use years in some cases. If this is the case with your contracts, you will not have to transfer points but to use both, you will have to be under the 7th month window.

I've got 3 contracts. Yes you must be in the 7 month window to use transferred points. Question: I think there is also a rule you can only transfer from a contract once in a use year and I don't think you can transfer banked/borrowed points? Also you can only borrow from another use year once? Please correct me as I'm unclear about the questions above.

What constitutes a different contract? We have add-ons, but I believe it is considered one contract (same UY, bought through DVD). Is this correct?

This isn't really true with multiple contracts of one owner. MS has far more flexibility when needed.

Thats the post I couldnt find for the answer I was looking for - thank you CRobin!

According to WDWguru in the post you found - DVC should make my VWL add-on the same contract # because the original DVC purchase ( Disney ) has the same use year as the add-on.

They will have the same contract number on them. Look at your paperwork. The add-on's will have a suffix such as -01, -02, -03 etc. after the contract number.

If this is the case, then all your points can be combined any way you want for your ressies, following of course the 11/7 month rules for the points' home resorts.

If the contract numbers are totally different then you would have to transfer them in order to combine them into one ressie.

Note however that while you cannot combine points to make a single day ressie (example 6 points from one contract and 14 points from another to make a 20 point day ressie) without first transferring points between the two contracts, you can make separate full day ressies from two contracts and link the ressies for one stay.

For example you want a 7-day stay. Use one contract to make the first 3 days, and the other contract to make the last 4-days, and link the two ressies together. Of course the 11/7 month windows apply according to the home resorts of the two different contracts.
