Does anyone know when WDW starts taking reservations for 2013? The website still says only taking reservations up to Dec. 31 2012. TIA

Thank You for beating me to the punch! I find it very odd that you can't make resv. for 6 months away, when dining plan, and all travel books advise to do so, at least 6 mnths. in advance. Always thought this was weird for Disney to do. Anyone Else? Thanks

From what I have read from other more experienced Disers is that you can call Disney and make room reservations now. This will hold the room but your rate will be adjusted to the 2013 prices when they are released.

In August, you should be able to go the the Disney website and put in dates and see the actual rates/packages for 2013 dates. So, you will also be able to reserve your room/package online in August too with the 2013 rates.

2013 rates have already been updated in WDW system...I made resort reservations on Monday over the phone for March 2013. Package rates have not been released yet, so if you are booking a package you can do one of two things-wait until they are released and book or book a room only reservation now and then switch to a package once they are released for booking. Please understand that if you book a room only and want to switch to a package, they will cancel the room only and rebook as a package.

Yeah there are SO many threads about that on this board. A lot of people are very frustrated about the rates not being out yet, especially people going in the earlier part of the year. Historically, last year the rates came out in June and the year before in July. That was phone only, the rates would come out online later, about a week to a month after. Before then the rates had come out early to mid August.

Also, historically, these rates have always come out on a Sunday, so be on the look out for that tomorrow, though most of don't think it's going to come out tomorrow. You can always check these boards on Sundays because it's going to light up like a Christmas tree when those rates come out!

Like someone had said before you can make a room only reservation, you'll have to put down a deposit for one night. There is a lot of argument over whether that is worth it or not since many people say you have to cancel your room reservation to get a package booked, though others swear that you can keep your reservation # and still book the package.

Either way though, we have plenty of waiting to do.

There are a bunch of threads over in the discount section of the boards with folks wondering the same as you so you are definitely not alone!! I am also anxiously waiting for 2013 packages and I really want to see the next round of AP discounts as I have been doing some research on buying those. I am hoping that we see the information soon!!

I get up every Sunday morning with my fingers crossed :rolleyes1
Last year I booked in June and gosh darn it WDW, I liked it and dont want to wait til August :upsidedow

I know what you mean - I just want it done so it isn't in my mind - I have enough to think about

I wish Disney would be 2 years out on being able to book the packages - I would love to book before I leave for 2 years from when we were there

Anxiously awaiting the 2013 packages to be available. We want to go for Easter break. :)

As others have already said, you can book a room only reservation (at 2013 rates) now. However, if you are wanting a package, you'll have to wait.

I called Disney Travel last week and was told that they expect the 2013 package prices to be released the last week of July. There was absolutely no hesitation on the CMs part when I asked and she didn't say "sometime the last of July" or "possibly" or anything like that. I know that we are supposed to take what CMs say with a grain of salt but I'm just passing along what I was told.

Unless the policy (and booking systems) has changed, the room only reservations and package reservations are handled through two entirely different systems. Thus, if you book a room only, you'll be required to put down a deposit equal to the highest night's rate. If you decide that you want a package, then you will have to cancel the room only reservation, have your deposit refunded to you and book a package reservation. With a package reservation, you're required to pay a $200 deposit and the remaining balance must be paid in full by no later than 45 days before your arrival date. This is the way it's been for several years now and this is the same information that I was given when I called last week (and years before as well).

Room only reservation numbers are a long series of just numbers. Package reservation number are numbers and letters are are shorter than rom only reservation numbers.

Having said all of that......I hope that the CM I spoke with was incorrect and the package prices are released before the last week of July. I am more than ready to book our May/June, 2013 vacation package. Come on Disney, I've got my $200 bucks ready to give you!

As others have said, you can make room only reservations now, but if you eventually decide to switch to a package your room only will be cancelled, you will be refunded your initial deposit, and be asked to make a new deposit for the package.

The main benefit of doing this is ADRs. You have to have a hotel reservation with Disney in order to qualify for the 180+10. Since January 2nd's 180 day mark is on July 7th, a reservation for the beginning of January would need to be made by then. Your ADRs won't be affected if you change to a package later on.

Otherwise, it doesn't matter much.
