Reservations at a Disney Resort Other Than Your Home Resort

I want to stay at a Disney resort other than my home resort around Thanksgiving. What are your experiences with being able to get this done before they book up? I understand I can only book 7 months in advance. I'd like to book a flight right now but I'm concerned I will not get the hotel I want.

Any tips?

is your home resort one at WDW - then book away.

I assume you already have a reservation for Thanksgiving at your home resort right?

then ask for a day by day automatic reservation for the resort you want.

now if you home resort is HH or VB - you might have some problems.

We did this last year and were able to get into VWL at the 7 month window with a short wait list time. I would recommend booking at your home resort (assuming it's not HH or VB) as a back-up then call at the 7 month window and ask to switch if available.

We own at SSR. We booked for July at the 11 month window. We wanted OKW due to points are lower. I just called at the 7month window and booked at OKW. But I was given the same advice book at home to make sure you have a place and then call to change if available. I know Thanksgiving is a busier time, than summer. Good luck and have a great trip

I am not sure when you are going but you can get rooms at other resorts, depending on the availability, almost up to the last minute. I think the 7 month window is for busy times of the year.

Got VWL at the 7-month with no problem for May (studio).
