Hello. I am looking for a reservation for March 6th-March 13th. According to the points calculator it says that I would need 106 points for Old Key West. I'm not sure how expensive, or how the different resorts vary, but we are looking for the most affordable availability- as this is a last minute trip vacation. If you can give me any information- that would be great. We need it for 4 adults.

Thanks.

Yes, I am still looking. As of right now I am trying to see what my best option is. I am also still figuring out how it all works.

How do the points work? I understand they are like $8-10 a point during this time, I'm just curious- is it like a certain amount of points a day? How do they figure the points? If you could help that would be great.

There are points charts that DVC members have. I'm not too familiar with this forum, but I'm assuming there are points charts posted somewhere. The points vary depending on time of year, day of week, room type, and resort. I wouldn't assume the 8-10 range though. I know I charge $12 per point! Anyway, just rent from someone you feel comfortable with and if you can find someone with distressed points then good for you!

Hi Jen,

Katie is correct. DVC members are allocated points when they purchase a vacation club interest. Those points reset themselves on an annual basis and must be used within that specific members use year. Depending on the vacation date, type of room, and resort dictates how many points will be needed to complete the vacation. DVC members that cannot for whatever reason use their use year points try to sell them so that they dont expire. DVC allows these transactions however requires the DVC member to act as the "Travel Agent" and handle all the bookings. On an average, most DVC members sell their points at a rate of $10 a point.

Wow, so much for being brief!!! :rolleyes1 Anyway, that's it in a nutshell. If you want to proceed, I would need to know dates, #of guests, type of accomodations (loft, 1bdrm, 2bdrm,) and which resort. I can then contact member services and check on availability.
