Hi guys-
Last summer, I booked 5 nights (Sun-Thu) BWV 1-Bedroom Std view for this upcoming June . We've decided to make it an 8-night trip (Sat-Sun) and I don't have enough points left for the 3 weekend nights. I called MS today and while the 3 nights I need are available for points, they don't have the cash inventory. However, CRO has the inventory, but I might have to move. I wouldn't be so opposed to the risk of moving except that we might have to move twice- once after one night and then 5 nights later for the last two nights.

For those of you who've mixed points and CRO cash reservations, did you end up actually having to move? We're they able to keep you in the same room?

Thanks for your help!
Leslie

have mixed points and cash twice.

In 1997 we spent 2 weeks at OKW, the weekends were cash, mid weeks were points so we had 4 reservations in total. We didnt move at all - stayed in the same 2 bed villa the whole time.

In 2001 we spent 6 nights at Vero - 4 on points and 2 on dollars. Again we stayed in the same villa all the way through.

Could you rent the needed points from a fellow DVC member and have them transfer them into your DVC account and make one complete reservation without having to worry about making a separate cash reservation? It might come out cheaper renting the points than paying cash anyway. Just a thought.

I always mix points and cash, because I am cheap! I just can't see myself paying all those pts on the weekends. A grand villa is just 66 pts, but it's 162 pts on a Fri or Sat night, so there is an incentive. I have never had to move, ever. They did make me settle up my account once, though, when going from pts to cash, and again when I went back to points. That only happened once, though, every other time it was nothing. ;)

We did this in June at SSR. I had the weekend on CRO cash and the five days on points. Get MS to put the CRO reservation number on that reservation, plus get CRO to put the DVC point reservation number on that reservation. Plus when you check in see if you can get the reservations linked and the room blocked out for your entire stay. It helps if both reservations are in the same name. You will have to check out and check back in when the new reservation starts.
