Hey I have a question. Say you have 300 OKW points and 150 BWV points. You want to stay at the boardwalk in October Preferred view. You make your October Boardwalk reservations at 11 months. (say the 20th thru the 27th) Then at 7 months you call day by day and make additional reservations with your OKW points for the same period. But since Food & Wine is going on, you only get 3 non-consecutive days during that same week. (Say the 20th, 22nd and 24th). Can you cancel those days on your BWV points and then link all the days into 1 reservation? This would allow you to "preserve" your BWV points a little better. Has anyone done this? THis would really increase the value of having a small add on contract.

You are asking if you can change the points that were used for the original reservation at 7 months out...since there's no waiting list for the nights in your scenerio, my guess is yes you can.

I have to admit that I am skeptical about certain CM's ability to do this correctly...I've lost ressies with less complicated transactions...my bad luck!

I sure do hope some veteran DVCers give you the answer...I'm just figuring out such things myself.

Not really asking about CHANGING points, perhaps I made my scenario overy complicated. What I meant to say is if you have 3 days reserved under BWV points, say the 20th 22nd and 24th and the other days of the week are reserved with OKW points the 21st, 23rd, 25th and 26th. Can member services link these all together into one reservation (So that you do not have to check in and check out during your stay).

Oh, yes, my guess is that they can be linked. It seems to me that I have had ressies where part of the points were from VB and VWL.

Now, I also seem to remember here that people have said that you cannot cancel days in the middle of a reservation. That is what you are trying to do, cancel the BWV days and link them to the OKW days that you can get at 7 months out. Given what you want, I would first just try to change the points from being BWV to the OKW, I do think you can do that at 7 months if there is no waiting list...again, I may be wrong.

Yes, you can do that. As already noted, you'll need to have confidence in the CM you work with when cancelling those days and linking the entire stay together - as some have found their reservation cancelled and grabbed by another member during the same phone call. Just make sure the CM understands what you're wanting to do from the beginning BEFORE cancelling the days made using the BWV points.

What you might want to consider is to make the reservation using BWV points as you described and then later reserve the weekend nights using the OKW points and then cancel those dates and link everything together. When you are trying the cancel odd days in the middle of a reservation and substitute other days andlink it all together you open yourself up for possible problems. If any dates are more likely to be available at 7 months, it's likely to be the weekends.

Good luck! :)

Great! Thanks Bobbiwoz and WebmasterDoc. This is what I needed to know.
