All,

I'm just wondering if you could make requests when you make a reservation. For example, we LOVED Narcoossee's, but would have loved it more had we been by the window. We also LOVED Coral Reef, but would have liked to be near the tank.

I understand that if they honored every request, they would not be able to meet the demand. But, let's assume we get our reservation in the second we're able to (180 day window, I believe). Would we be able to ask for a window seat at Cali Grill for Christmas Eve, or a window seat at Narcoossee's and possibly get it?

As far as I know, you can't add anything to your reservation other than noting you are celebrating something. You're best chance would be to mention it at the podium when you check in for your reservation, and show up earlier than the normal 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

You make this type of request when you arrive at the restaurant, not at the time you make the reservation.

ASKING FOR A SPECIFIC TABLE/VIEW AT TS EATERY:

1) The new method of seat assignments
. . . you check in at podium with the GREETER/SEATER
. . . the ressie goes into the table waiting queue
. . . an ASSIGNER walks around with handheld tablet computer
. . . when a table opens, the next ressie with the number of guests pops up
. . . the ASSIGNER places that ressie to that next table
. . . the podium is notified the table is ready by a slip printing out
. . . the podium hands the SEATER the table slip
. . . the slip had table, number adults/kids, DDP/OOP/TIW/etc
. . . the SEATER shows the guests to the assigned table
. . . the SEATER passes the slip to the SERVER
. . . the SERVER meets the guests, confirms slip info, starts service
2) The guest cannot request a table at podium, as they don't talk to SEATER
3) A friendly GREETER may personally communicate with an ASSIGNER.
4) But, usually too busy.
5) Due to assignment, guests can't just ask for a different table while walking.
6) SOMETIMES, the guest can ask for a specific table, and the ASSIGNER will OK it.

I can't say for sure about Coral Reef, but we have been able to request a window table or a specific server at Narcoossee's. We've always asked at the podium when we checked in and the GREETER has never indicated it was an issue for them to note the request and then pass it along to the SEATER and/or ASSIGNER. At least at Narcoossee's the SEATER/ASSIGNER seemed to stop by the podium pretty frequently, so it was probably easy to pass along any notes at that time.

I have done this twice when checking in at both Narcoossee's and the Coral Reef...and have lucked out both times. I think for the most part, they try to oblige, but sometimes there just isnt an opening.
