Reservation ? re: December 2008

I actually called this week and tried to book at CR and the very helpful cast member said they had not released all the rooms yet. He even offered to call the resort and confirm that for me. So maybe you could have a cm call and check at the resort for you.

Anyone know why they don't "release" rooms @ the 500 day mark?
We are a family of five and wanted CR garden wing garden view. Tried for about 6 weeks over the summer (for DEC 2008) and got nowhere. We now have a ressie @ POR and I really have talked myself out of spending the extra $ for CR anyway. Disney lost $ from me because I couldn't get into ANY of the 3 monorail resorts. I wasn't even considering a mod until I got "no availability" for so long.
Wondering why the rooms can't be "released"...
Seems like people might end up choosing the cheaper just to get something locked in.

My theory is that they want to keep some rooms avail for others who aren't obcessive about planning like we Disers are. I wasn't able to get what I wanted in the beginning, my 499 days fell within the release of the packages, but it still took me a couple of weeks to get something I was comfortable with, I did change my dates, but it worked out just fine, I got one of the resorts I was looking at and I saved $250.

I will also be going to Disney World next December. When is the best time to go so the crowds are at the lowest? From what I can tell Pop Warner and Mousefest will be going on the second week of December 7-13. So will the first week of December be better?? Will there be a lot of people staying over from the Thanksgiving weekend? I was thinking Dec 2-6, 2008 would be best.

Also I just got an email from Disney's Visa Rewards. They were offering Saratoga or Key West deluxe resorts for a great rate during the low times at the end of this year including December. Is this something they offer every year; I would love to take advantage of the same offer next.

If Pop Warner is that week, then December 2-6, 2008 will be a great time to go, really light crowds and you will have missed the Thanksgiving crowds. We decided in order to miss at least most of Pop Warner and Mousefest, we are going December 13-21, 2008 and this will also allow me almost 2 weeks off of work, talk about relaxing, but that will do it. Mousefest actually runs until Dec 15, 2008.

I have read that mousefest isn't that many people and that pop warner mostly affects their resort. Any truth to that?? Our dates are Dec 2-12, 2008. (because thats what was available)

No, the parks were full of rowdy teens/tweens in the evenings after the competitions and they were pretty hyper then. it wasn't so bad during the day. large groups of teens/tweens get on my nerves. I have a 16 year old cousin and she is alot better behaved than most teens, so I am not used to it. They have no manners and don't care who they trample. I don't know about the Mousefest group, but I can imagine that it is pretty large, but don't really know, we have only been once in December.
