reservation questions... help???

If I want to call and reserve a room for fall 2009 (realizing the rates are not out yet and that I would have to pay a nights stay at 2008 rates), what number do I call? Do I call that specific hotel directly (CSR), or is there a main reservation line through Disney planning that I would call?

Also, if I make a room only reservation now and buy park tickets ala carte, or if I convert my room only ressie to a package when they become available, would I be able to take advantage of any discount codes that may be posted in either scenario? Or can discount codes only be applied to a package?

You just call Central Reservations at 1-407-W-DISNEY. Disney does not make reservations directly through the resort desks.

As for your tickets/package/discounts questions --

If you're planning on eventually converting it to a package of some kind, I would wait to buy tickets until closer to the time. You can change to a package to add a discount if one becomes available. The only thing WDW doesn't do is "stack" discounts. So you can't have an AP discount and a AAA discount. Or an AP room discount and free dining, or a similar scenario.

Once you buy your tickets, you could still convert your room-only to a package of some kind (e.g., free dining package), but it would then require that you purchase additional ticket(s) for everyone in your party, so you might end up with an extra ticket. So, I would wait to buy the tickets. The only thing that might happen is that you will have to pay a higher price if Disney increases their ticket prices between now and then.

There's a lot of possible ways to change things once you make a room-only reservation, so there's a lot of options there!
