We have a 17 night trip planned Oct 12 - 29. First 3 nights at OKW and the remaining 14 at BWV in a standard view studio.
Our son was originally scheduled to leave for basic training in the Air Force on Nov 8. A couple nights ago, he got a call that his reporting date has changed to Aug 23. Basic Training is 8 1/2 weeks which will put his graduation ceremony right in the middle of our trip. There's no way in the world we're going to miss his graduation ceremony which leads me to these questions.
1) If we leave WDW for 3 nights in the middle of our reservation and want add those 3 nights on to the end of our trip, we'll check out and then check back in 4 days later. I know we can use those points from the 3 nights for the additional nights we'll add at the end knowing we'll most likely change to a different resort for those last 3 nights. Might be some additional points needed since we have a BWV standard view. But here is the question, would we be able to keep the BWV standard view we have booked the week after we return from the ceremony or once you change a ressie like this, all the days after are cancelled and we'd have to rebook the last 10 days which would almost assuredly mean we wouldn't be at the BWV this late in the game?
2) If we would have to rebook all the days after we return to WDW, we'd most likely just not check out and our room would sit empty for those 3 nights so when we return we can have our BWV room as we LOVE the BW and are going specifically for the F&W Festival. Does WDW "check" to see if people are truly staying in the room each night and if we're not there, they'd possibly cancel the remainder of our trip? I realize we'd be forfeiting 3 nights worth of points, but it'd be worth it to us to keep the BWV room.
3) Unrelated to DVC, does anyone know if there are airline restrictions on taking a "trip within a trip"? We'll be flying on a roundtrip flight from Ohio to Orlando and back on Oct 12 & 29. In the middle of that trip, we'll be flying from Orlando to San Antonio and back. Are there any TSA or Airline rules that prohibit doing this?
Thanks in advance!
Scott
