Can I do this?

Make a 11 month reservation at my home resort (BWV) and then at the 7 month window, call MS to see if a reservation is available at another resort, say AKL without losing my original reservation until I knew I had one at AKV?

Yes, you can do that. If you will need to cancel the BWV reservation to have the necessary points for the AKV reservation, I'd make sure there is good availability since MS has at times had difficulty "holding" the new reservation while they cancel the existing one. Some have found that in the few minutes needed to cancel the existing reservation, the other availability disappeared.

Just express your concern to MS when trying to make the change and let them handle it. It can certainly be done - we've been able to do that many times over the years.
