Reservation Question

I have a question about reservations... we are going to Disney the 3rd week in October (1st time)... how far in advance should I try to make reservations? I am hoping it won't be as busy during that time.
Also.. I read on one of the threads here about Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville... is there one there and is it on the dining plan?

Reservations can be made 180 days in advance. If you are talking October '07 then I would call immediately to get your reservations taken care of.

From what I'm reading here reservations seem to be always necessary especially if you want table service at a normal dinner time.

You are correct. I remember checking in for dinner at Nine Dragons this past trip. The person in front of me did not have an ADR and they were told their wait time was 1-1/2 to 2 hours for dinner, this was 7pm. We waited 5 minutes for our table. It is worth taking the time to get the ADR. We are 180 days out next Saturday, 9/15. I already have my ADR list worked out and will be on the phone at 7am.

You are doing exactly what we tried to do. There are 2 differences we made the hotel reservations with free dining in June and I tried to make our list of reservations then. Well we didn't get not even 1 on the day or time we wanted. It actually took hours trying to get any to be workable to where we wanted to eat at any normal times. All of our reservations are either very early or very late. You will most likely have better luck since you are about 6 months out and no free dining. Good luck in getting your requests!!

To answer the OP’s last question: Margaritaville is at Universal’s Citywalk. It therefore is not on any Disney dining (or other) plan/package, and actually may not take reservations.

Are you talking about October 07? If so, you need to make ADRs today, right now, this minute! lol. Really, it will be hard to get ADRs if you are going this October. You probably need to decide which parks you will be in on which days (we use the Unoffical Guide's Crowd Calender to pick our days based on which park will be the least crowded on which days), then call Disney and ask what Table Service locations they have open ADRs for on those days in the park you will be in. The crowds should be at mid levels, but the ADRs book up very quickly no matter what time of year you go. Hope this info helps.

Call and make reservations now! The people at the reservations phone line are very helpful. Things get booked fast so be open to having lunch at 3 or 4 pm, since traditional lunch times are probably filled, or a late or early dinner. I found a list of resaturant menus at allears.net that was helpful in getting an idea of what they serve. Good luck. Call now!

Yes.. I did call today and was able to get reservations for all the places we picked except Cinderella's Royal table... but we have a Disney Princess Breakfast booked so I wasn't to disappointed. A couple of the reservations I had to get for later than we eat.. 8:00 or a little later but I was able to get them!! I am planning our days around the parks that the dinner reservations are in. Thanks for your help!
