Qhen we booked our trip we requested a lagoon view. Is that as specific as we can be? Or can we request a specific longhouse and even a room? If so how far in advance of our arrival date can we call CRO? :earsboy:

You can call the CRO and make your request at any time. It will be stored in the computer, but won't been seen or needed until a couple of days before you check-in.

You can request a specific room, building, whatever you want. Just remember that it's a request that they will try to honor, but you may not get what you ask for.

They do a very good job at requests but as rla5d said it is only a request. Lagoon view is not a request. You either pay for a lagoon view room and you get in either Tahiti or Tuvalu or you pay for a garden view and get one of the garden view longhouses. Sometimes because of over booking they will bump people from garden view to lagoon but that does not happen very often.

Hi Steve:

We have finally booked the gardenview concierge, should we put in a request for a complimentary upgrade to lagoon view concierge, or is that ridiculous, either you pay for lagoon view, or you pay for garden view.

I know people request all sorts of things, just wondering. Thanks,

Deb.

I tell others to request room numbers and longhouses all the time but I stay away from telling anyone to ask for free upgrades. I know everyone has their stories about free upgrades but my discussions with some of the Polynesian staff about when and why they upgrade leads me to believe that the upgrades are decided before you get there and they are usually due to some kind of overbooking or other mistake. I have also asked them about people asking for free upgrades and some of the CMs actually get annoyed when guests ask for them.

In 2000 they sold too many standard rooms through Expedia so there were no more standard lagoon view rooms when we arrived so they bumped us to concierge for free because they were the only lagoon view rooms left. This does not happen often but that is usually why it does. If we had paid for a garden view room we would not have been bumped because there are plenty of garden view rooms.

I hope all this makes sense.

Steve

Thanks steve,

I sure don't want to start my vacation by annoying anyone.

I am quite happy just to be at the polynesian resort and doing concierge is an extra bonus for us, we never had a honeymoon 25 years ago so we are splurging a bit on this long needed vacation.

Just have never stayed in concierge before. I think I read that you can ask for a view of the quiet pool while staying in gardenview concierge. Thanks again,

Deb.

All the garden view rooms in Hawaii face the quiet pool. It is a nice view and I am sure you will love the concierge services as well as the great location of the Hawaii building being next to both pools and the beach.

Have a great time.

Steve

you're going to have a great time at the Poly!
The garden views from Hawaii are beautiful, the landscaping and tiki torches will just transport you in the evening!
However, the lagoon view is incredibly magical! could very well be the best view at WDW! but it does cost about $60 more a night, to me it's worth it to pay for, others would say no. it depends on how much you take advantage of the view!!!

you will have a beautiful view either way though!!! :)

have a great trip! :)

Laura :)
