Reservation Question-HELP!!

Going to try to get use out of our AP and plan a short trip for DH and I (no kids trip). Anyway a few questions:

-How crowded would it be at the end of August (29-1st)?

-Borrowing points from next year, what happens if I cancel the reservation? do they go into holding and have to be used before my use year of Feb ? Do I lose them if I don't use them before Feb 05, even if they are actually 05 points? Already borrowed 36 pts from next year for family trip coming up this month.

Any advice?

You can't put your borrowed points back, so they'd have to be used in the current use year. The end of August shouldn't be too bad as far as crowds go, though.

I agree, the crowds should not be too bad.

If you have to cancel, and you do so more than 30 days before your arrival, then your point will stay in this year, but not in a 'holding accout', that only happens when it is less than 30 days before arrival when you cancel. Holding points can only be used to book 60 days of less in advance.

So let me get this even if they are 2005 points and I try to use them this year and if I don't then I can't use them when my 2005 use year starts in feb right?

That is correct.

Once you borrow points they must remain in the current use year. Even if you cancel, they "look like" 2004 points and expire on Jan 31, 2005.

Same is true with banked points, that must stay in the year they were banked into. i.e. if you bank 100 2004 points into 2005, they must be used by Jan 31, 2006 or they expire, these dates are for your Feb use year.

If you have to borrow points from 2005 for a reservation in 2004, then they become 2004 points and will expire with your 2004 use year.

As to the end of August... We went the last week of August to Labor Day last year, and the crowds were fine, but the weather was very hot and LOTS of rain.
