I got an email confirmation "update" for my trip this Christmas. I booked this vacation last december, and added a night a couple of months ago. I have a confirmation for a portofino suite dec 25th for 5 nights.

My email today showed it as a garden view room instead of suite.

I immediately (seriously in 2 seconds) called and asked what in the world this was about and why would I suddenly get a confirmation (wrong) 9 months later? The woman at reservations said she had no idea where this email came from, and that she still showed the portofino suite.

The new email has a different format, and doesn't have a signature line (you know, sincerely, Terri, universal special services.) It also has a pretty picture of the hotel instead of the plain text, which I have always gotten before.

Should I be worried? Did anyone else get these new confirmations?

Is there anyone else I should call? I called the hotel directly and they said they had no access to my reservation.

When you have a reservation for a suite it shows in two separate reservations. One for the normal room and one for the parlor. My emails never got a signature line. My latest one said "Portofino Bay Hotel: Your Reservation Confirmation" as the subject line. The contents of the message are:

Benvenuto! The joy of what the Italians call la dolce vita - the sweet life - is waiting for you at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. You're sure to enjoy the stunning re-creation of the famed Mediterranean seaside village during your upcoming visit to Universal Orlando®.

Below is the confirmation of your recent reservation. Please take just a moment to ensure the accuracy and let us know if any changes are necessary."

Oh, Ok I see I think. Theres a parlor and a 2 queen reservation. Will they send another one for the parlor?

Thats the same wording that was on this last conf. But mine was just a picture of the harbor buildings.

I assume I don't need to worry though.

I don't know if they will send another one since it is kinda weird that they sent that one now. We got ours the day before our reservation. They are making all kinds of changes right now with the booking/reservation system so who knows what is going on. I wouldn't worry though since the reservationist confirmed your suite.
 

this is the first time i have received the email hotel confirmation a month out from my arrival for the loews hotels.
mine came the past week for my october stay/for second week of the month.

in all the past years, i have received my confirmation email a week out.

i was speechless to receive the email so far in advance.
 
I'm booked in a Portofino Suite at the PBH for October. I recieved 2 confirmation (1 for each room) when I booked in May. Then when I switched rates in June, I received 2 more confirmations. I haven't received any since then, but I wouldn't be surprised to see another confirmation within the next couple weeks.

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday. Got the "update" email saying garden view - no mention of the suite, no separate suite email as I had recieved in the past. I called the reservations number listed in the email. They said they still show it as a suite. They said they will have their special services send out a confirmation listing the suite. Never got it, so I' guess I'll have to call back.

I definitely want something in writing dated later than the update email stating that I'm in a suite at the proper rate.
 
Just remembered - you can email a request for a confirmation to Universal Special Services (unspecsvc@vagent.com). I just sent my request. Hopefully it'll say portofino suite on it!
 
FYI - I recieved an email from special services within minutes of my request confirming the suite.
