Hello all. I’m trying to put together a split stay trip for my family for next spring. We want to stay in a 2BR for 4 nights at BLT and 3 at SSR. SSR is our home resort and the booking window is open for that. I’m assuming that if BLT has availability it will be lake view so I’m planning for that many points. I will need to buy 22 one time use points to make this all work.

Here’s the question. Should I book all 7 nights right now at SSR and then be ready to pounce on a BLT reservation for the four days on the day the 7 month window opens? If so, is it easy to modify the original SSR reservation to do so? Also, can I do the one time use points when making that reservation online or do I have to talk to a MS rep on the phone?

TIA for advice. We usually just do a very straight forward reservation so I haven’t done something this complicated before. I’m sure there are experts out there who know how to do this!

It's a good idea to reserve all the nights but make 2 separate SSR reservations. One that is for the nights you want to switch to BLT and the other for the remainder. You can't switch part of a single reservation to another resort so you want 2. If for some reason you don't get the BLT 2BR at 7 months or thru a waitlist then you can ask MS to merge the 2 SSR reservations together.

I'll echo what Kat4Disney said....make 2 separate reservations. I often book split-stays. For our upcoming October stay, I wanted to try and split between a preferred studio at Riviera and a 1BR value at AKV. At the 11-month mark, I was up at 8am and booked a 2-night stay in a 1BR value at AKV...then again 2 days later for 3 more nights on a separate reservation. When the 7-month window opened, there was NOTHING available for those 2 nights in a studio. I figured we were probably out of luck, but at least I knew we would be in a 1BR for the whole trip. I also knew that a waitlist for the preferred studio at Riviera would be risk-free since it is the same number of points. I decided around the 6 month mark to get on the waitlist and, to my utter shock, I got it about a month later!
