Reservation Help - Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Recently I completed the Princess 10k and I'm ready to try for half. My home resort is BLT and it's booked up during the Wine and Dine 11/5 -11/8. Are other resorts open during this time? I have no preference. The half marathon registration opens tomorrow, and I don't want to register and possibly have to pay for a room some where. I know I could do the waitlist, but the uncertainty kills me. I have a month left before the 8th month window opens up.

The moderators have asked that we not check availability for others. It really is an exercise in futility because even if it was open now, no guarantees it would be available when you can book. Booking is 7 month not 8.

Last year I had to change a reservation to this weekend about 5-6 months in advance. I was able to get a one bedroom at SSR and actually eventually snagged the one bedroom at BCV between the waitlist and stalking the website.

check the resort availability tool. it allows you to check all the resorts, not just your home resort. I would consider a transfer of points from someone, or to rent points, because rooms as they stand right now are extremely limited. With it being the last weekend of W&D and the race they go quick.

F&W has been extended to November 16th this year, however, the race is still the weekend of 11/6 to 11/8. It is also Jersey Week, the first MVMCP so it will be a popular time to be there. I am sure you will get a reservation at either SSR or OKW or even AKV if you are on it 7 months out. I know last year I tried a last minute trip this week and couldn't get anything, and when I mean anything I mean anything.

For 2014, it was difficult to get anyhting at 7 months out. Even SSR, which is usually always open at 7 months out, filled very shortly before 7 months out for the Friday of that weekend in all room categories. You do have a wild card this year, the Polynesian, which could be open at 7 months out this early in its existence and possibly there will be some movement out of other resorts at 7 months out to it. Also, the extension of Food & Wime to the weekend after the half marathon weekend might cause some others to move to a later date.

SSR did fill, but then availability really bounced around in the months following. OKW was open for awhile, but OKW wasn't a host resort last year and I had NO interest in dealing with a non-host resort for a night race.

Just be ready to jump at 7 months out.

That weekend is going to be tough to get at this point but it's not impossible. We own at BLT too and we got on the waitlist for a BLT standard view studio at about 10 months out and it came through a few weeks ago. Get on the waitlist now! You particularly want to get on that waitlist before the 7 month window when other members who don't own at BLT will be getting on the waitlist. It's entirely possible that something will open up for your trip at 7 months when members move their reservations around. Also, keep checking the website for availability even if you're on the waitlist.

With the extension of Food Wine and the additon of Poly, you probably have more of a chance this year than last. If the deposit for the race is non-refundable however, you would still be taking some risk.

I hope you got a spot earlier today. For those that were not registering, it sold out in 35 minutes! If you didn't register, I would recommend to book your room for next year at 11 months. It is the best half marathon in my opinion.

If there is not availability at your home resort, I would look at the rundisney discounted rooms. They are a decent price. I believe you can cancel up to a certain date, but may lose $25 dollars or something like that. But for risking that $25, you will be certain you have a room in case you can't get anything at the 7 month window.
