Reservation Guarantee

Are all the table service places requiring cc to guarantee the request? I've looked at BOG and CM and both asked for cc info. Just wondering if this was something new or only with certain restaurants.

No, not all the table service restaurants require cc to guarantee the reservation.

Only the popular restaurants. Credit card guarantees are fairly new. I believe one reason is to help prevent no shows. If you have a reservation but fail to show, you will be charged a $10 per person on the reservation cancellation fee if you do not cancel the reservation at 24 ( I think) hours before.

It does seem to be more than last time. I think before I only gave a CC for Akershus and HDD. I just made ADRs today and it was every one until my last day... Boma. Frustrating- I wish I only needed to enter the info once in a session, not for each one... address, too.

20 restaurants require the credit card hold.

4 are fully prepaid (CRT and the three dinner shows.) If you gave a credit card hold for one of these and were not charged in full, you likely booked as being on the dining plan.

The list (and the known cancellation policies) are in the linked sticky thread. This has been policy as of October 2011. It is definitely to prevent no-shows and apparently has done the job as reports are that some restaurants have cut the number of no-shows drastically under this policy.

I have found making ADRs by phone is know much less time-consuming than making everything online. They make all the ADRs and then ask for your CC info once at the end.

Is your credit card charged right away on the CC guarantee or do they keep the number on hold in case you are a no show?

Only charged if you don't show. Or if they mess up. Do check your records. But nothing happens until after your ADR time.

Only CRT and the dinner shows are fully prepaid. The others are all in case of no-shows. Your card will be charged only if you don't show up.
