Reservation for One

I am arriving in Florida a day ahead of my family in March and I wanted to make a reservation for Trail's End brunch. When I tried to reserve on the app, it gave me many different restaurant choices for a party of 1, but Trail's End wasn't listed. When I tried a party of two, just to see what would happen, it came up as available.

While I think I'll be ok at Trail's End without a reservation, I always feel better having one (I'm a planner :-)). I'm wondering though, why would other restaurants offer a reservation for a party of one, but not Trail's End?

Thanks for any insight!

It's very very difficult to get a reservation for one using the Disney booking system. They just don't allocate much booking space to parties of one. No rhyme or reason as to why it will turn up for one restaurant but not another.

Take the reservation for two, it won't result in any penalties if you tell them upon checking in that there's only one.

In my experience, I've noticed alot of restaurants don't show up for a party of 1, but they do for party of 2. When I go alone, I usually just make the reservation for 2, and just tell them at the podium it'll be just me. I've done this many times. I think this is just another example of WDW's wonky computer systems. In actuality, there should be no difference between 1 and 2, I mean, you take up the same table! Hope you enjoy your meal, Trail's End brunch might be my favorite meal on property!

That's what I always do, whether I'm solo or traveling with DH. And if I show up at the restaurant solo, no penalty. My theory is that maybe I'll run into a new friend I want to invite to share lunch with, or maybe DH will show up and surprise me. But neither has happened!

I agree, just book the ADR for 2, there will be no penalty. It's a bit of a quirk of the reservation system. I've often had success finding a table for 4 when 3 won't show up. It seems to be an odd number issue. Likely because they are trying to maximize butts in seats.
