I need to plan another trip for July :cool1:, but I don't have enough points left to do a week :sad1: - let along the week and a half I really want. So . . . :confused3

#1 Can I make the reservation, and get the points I need transferred in before I arrive? OR, do I need to get the points transferred in before I can make the reservation?

#2 Will the system use the transferred points before MY leftover points - leaving my points available for later use or banking to next year? Or will it use mine, then the transferred - making the transferred points expire before I can use them?

I've got addonitis real bad - buy my "insurance" doesn't cover it right now :lmao:

My understanding is that you need to have the points in your account, befor you can make a reservation. Or at least be able to borrow them from the next UY.

As far as the way MS will use points (transfered then your own or vise versa) I do not know the answer to that question.

You can't make a reservation if you don't have the points available. It's not like using a credit card to pay for your hotel room where you book with the credit card and you are charged once you get there.

As noted, you must have the points. Other options might be to stay in a resort/room type that is less points such as OKW or BWV standard view or possibly a smaller unit for part or all the time such as a studio compared to a 1 BR. You could also consider cash for part of your stay, esp for the weekend portions. This is also likely to be as cheap or cheaper than paying for transferred points. Or you could take the opportunity to do a few days at a non DVC resort or even off property.

I made a reservation and then asked to pay cash for the weekends and they took the reservation. Later I aquired more points, much to my wife's dismay, and then used the points to complete the booking. I booked 5 studio's and a two bedroom at OKW this way for a trip that went 7/1/07 to 7/10/07 for 26 people. Just tell them you want to pay cash for the weekends and if you get your points then call back and use them.

But, if there is a waitlist for the reservation you need, you can't just swap out your cash reservation for a points reservation. It will go to the next person on the list. Be careful.
