Reservation Experience

We’re coming to the Fort on May 4th, and planned to stay until the 15th. My guy had a last minute change in his vacation days, and was able to add two extra days. So, I went to the website to see if I could expand our reservation until the 17th, but according to the site, all sites were booked except for the most expensive premium site. Disappointed, I kind of gave up, but my husband urged me to give reservations a call. I figured it wasn’t going to change anything, but it wouldn’t hurt so I gave it a try.

To my actual shock, the very chipper cast member said that of course, I could have those two extra days, so I booked them. I haven’t gotten an updated email, but the extra days are showing up in the app (she did say it might take a bit for an email to show up). So far, my confirmation number hasn’t changed, but I don’t know if it’s supposed to. This isn’t the first time the webpages have been either incorrect or not sufficiently updated. Anyway, I think after this I’m not going to totally rely on Disney’s online reservation system.

Just thought I’d post a heads up of what my experience with the Disney website has been.

The joys of Disney IT. If the CM was able to add the days to your existing reservation, the confirmation number shouldn't change. You would just see your new check out day listed in the app. I suspect this is what the CM did since you didn't mention them asking for an additional deposit.

It may take a day or so for the email, but generally the app showed the new days before the email.

As for why the website didn't show availability, that is the wonders of Disney reservation algorithms trying to not leave gaps. CMs often can see all availability (despite them saying they can't).

I find calling many times works best when making changes. The last two times I called, the people on the phone actually lived in Orlando. It used to be that if you wanted to add or reduce days, they would cancel your reservation and then try (usually unsuccessfully) to book a whole new reservation. Talking to someone just seems to work best.
