Reservation "ethics" and realities...

I personally am fine if a family of 5 wants to "fit" into a room that barely holds 4. Maybe that it is all they can afford. I personally prefer a larger room, (and thankfully can afford one) because I am the only female in a family of 4. I have a husband and 2 teenage sons. I prefer a larger deluxe room. Now, again I am fortunate that I can afford this. So I do not try and judge what others do, disney can be an expensive vacation.

keep in mind you can have more than 4 in a room at the suites etc...but would you really want to have 5 people in one standard room? think about it...
even if you are just sleeping and showering.

yes i am sure some people do sneak in extras but do you really want to always be wondering if you are going to be caught? is that really a good example for parents to set? yes disney is very very pricey but that is just how it is. like it or not your going to spend some serious $ at disney.

allstar suites are a nice option and rumor has it pop will be opening up suites too. it is always best to play by the rules. you will have a much better vacation.

There are multiple options for the fifth person that doesn't require a deluxe resort. POR has rooms with a trundle bed that sleeps 5. All Stars Family Suites sleep 6. Ft Wilderness Cabins sleep 6. You can get two value rooms.

I'd like to think that most guests see what Disney allows and abide by Disney's rules. I know there are some out there who pick and choose their rules to follow and some who don't choose to follow anyone's rules. Those are the people who squeeze extra people into their room because they want to. They are the people who cut in line. They push their children up to the curb to squeeze in with the family who waited for an hour to get a good seat for the parade. They are the people who get a wheelchair so they can use the w/c entrances. You know the rest.

People who choose to have larger families just realize that larger families cost more, no matter where they go or what they do. Whether it is going to WDW for a vacation or buying new shoes for school. I haven't seen many stores that give you a free pair of shoes when you buy four. At least Disney will allow you to add the baby under three to stay for free, visit the parks for free and eat for free.

Hey Fargoman2, I for one would not put 5 people in a 4 person room. It goes against the Fire Safety Codes as this is the reason why Disney has the limitations on how many people can occupy a room at one time. There are other options for a family of 5. Now I am not exactly sure but I think if one of the occupants is a child under 2 or 3 than they are not counted as a person on the reservation so therefore you would technically have 4 people and an infant but then again I could be wrong. I am sure there will be other people on the DIS boards that would better answer your question. Just a warning this thread might get closed down as it goes against the "rules/policy" of Disney. There was another thread similar to this that has been closed. Good luck with your decision.

I am sad to say I have started this all and have seen how people truly are. I was not staying in a value resort actually its is the Grand Floridian. I no I am not generally a rule breaker I am normaly the one who is getting pushed and made rude comments to since my 12 year old is sererly sutistic and I have seen the ugly side of Disney patrons. I have made this once in a lifetime trip for my disabled son and I will not let your negative commetns a=effect me jsut like the people who liketo say "What do you get to go through the handicap line your so lucky" Ignorance is bliss for some. I am done with this forum and bid you Disney floks fairwell.

Traci, have you thought about changing to the WL in a deluxe room? It might be about the same and you can sleep 6 in those rooms if I remember correctly. I hope you work this out because everyone likes to go to WDW and have a great time.
