Hi all,

Along with many of you I have now rescheduled a large family trip we had planned for later this year. I have several family members who just aren’t comfortable taking a trip this year with all of the unknowns, and also wanted to take advantage of the “exception” for borrowed points while it is available. I’ve now put those points back into next year. Yesterday I was able to get the Boardwalk rooms I wanted for early March (a 2 BR villa and 2 studios).

However I am missing one night (Sunday, 3/7) in the middle of 9-night reservation. I will keep checking of course & suppose I can also try to go on a wait list for that night. But also wanted to know if I can book a 2BR Villa for CASH for that one night and have them connect the reservations etc. so we wouldn’t have to move out for one night. I just don’t recall if this is something that can be done.

Many thanks!

Sometimes rooms are available for cash through MS. Give them a call. When you go through them, they can create it so it’s one reservation.

You can then set up a waitlist for that night as a points night and if it comes through, you can just cancel the cash night,

Someone has mentioned that waitlist are on hold right now, so you might want to ask about that.

Thanks for the info. In the event that MS does not have a cash room available (which would be my guess given expected DVC high demand next year due to lots of banking) - If I book a cash room through Disney direct can my reservations still be combined or is that a completely different inventory of rooms?

Are you planning on calling and having MS book the entire reservation for you or can you book the nights that are available, I guess as 2 reservations, and then call MS and have them fill in the blank night?? I'm asking bc I've looked at alternate dates as well and have found the same situation and wasn't sure how to book a reservation when a night in the middle isn't available...

thanks!

If you make a cash reservation through DVC, it will be 3 separate reservations. They can link them, so the resort knows it’s one continuous reservation. But technically, you would have 2 check-in/out days. They also tell you there is a possibility you would have to move (but in all the times I’ve done this, that’s never happened). If you make a reservation through Disney, they can make a notation referencing the reservations. Same with check-in/out etc.

Different inventory. While you can ask MS to list the cash reservation.there is a greater chance you could move vs. getting it through MS because they are different reservation systems,

Ideally, go MS for cash if you can, but if you go through Disney, keep trying MS for either points or cash

I booked as 2 reservations with a gap in the middle. It sounds from the other replies that any cash reservation would then be a 3rd reservation. Then they would note that they are linked but no guarantees about not having to move 😬

Makes sense, thanks!
